I think the Camaro was designed by a French guy and the word "Camaro" is French. Thats why the emblem on the front of the car is blue, white, and red... thats the French Flag. But I don't know what the word means.

Isn't the Word Chevrolet French... the Let pronounced Lay? So it seems logical Camaro is too. French is one official laguage of Switzerland so.

rumor has it that the word camaro is from a certain, old dialect of french that means "friend". of course ford argued when the car came out that it meant "small woman", but i think that definition might be a little biased...

check that, ford came out with an old-spanish definition that meant, "a small, shrimp-like creature".
intersting side note though, gm considered naming the new car gemini. the company considered using the letters "GM" in the name and came up with G-Mini, which morphed into GeMini...

its where it all started man, the gauntlet was thrown, and weve been eating em ever sense. personally being a scarface fan, i always thought camaro meant "little friend" pull up to a stang at a light, and over the wail of the engine and smoking tires as i pull away, scream at the top of my lungs "SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!!!!" :)
