Problems shifting from 1st to 2nd

i have a 2000 focus automatic. yesterday, it started having a problem shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. it would go up to 4000+ rpm before shifting, then jerk into gear.

it stopped doing it after a while, and i didn't notice it this morning, but now i'm paranoid.

i've had so many problems with this car , it's frustrating.

is this a common issue with other focus owners?
