Plug Keeps Melting???

Hello,
I originally had a problem with the power output (couldn't even make it up a small grade). I changed the wires, plugs and EGR valve. When I took the plugs out one of them looked really bad. The new plugs were in for only about a week. The problem came back. When I looked at the plugs again the same plug was burned down past the electrode.
Any ideas of what could be causing this?

did you gap them properly?

It is a 92 Explorer. Yes, they were gapped properly. Actually, I just burned out another plug (same one) in a weeks time. Don't know what could be causing this. I would guess that if the same cylinder keeps burning up that it would mean that it is running too lean. That may indicate that the fuel injector may be bad?? Any other ideas??

check for a plugged catalytic convertor. everything gets red hot most when they're plugged. might also have carbon build up causing detonation.

The things that cause an electrode to melt are incorrectheat range on the plug(not your case as only one plug with problem),over advanced timing(same as above), lean fuel mixture (could be a plugged injector), insufficient coolling (blocked cooling passage not to common), lack of lubrication (should see other signs of that). My bet would be a lean condition ie plugged or poor flow of the injector on that cylinder. Good Luk Greg North of 60
