alright. i got a problem and maybe you guys can help. I got a ticket for an illegal muffler in ct because it is illegal to modify a muffler in any way to make it louder or anything else other than to repair or make more quiet. i had the apexi n1 exhaust and gt downpipe. so anyway i cut my gt downpipe up and now i have a 2.5 pipe to a high flow cat, and then i have a pure stock exhaust.. so now i am legal but i am only reaching 8psi :banghead: with a evo 16g turbo i turn the boost up as much as i like but it pegs at 8 psi no matter what. no i understand that the stock exhaust is maddd restrictive but do you guys know of any way i can stay legal and still have performance

Get a "tuneable" muffler

You had 3 inch catback? Buy or make a 2.5 inch, and use a quieter muffler. You shouldn't have many problems with that...

buy those "performance" mufflers. My cousin has one on his Tsi, and looks like a perfectly stock muffler.

I also got in trouble for my apex N1. they make silencers for them. and they do help a little. Also, did the cop actually test the decibles on your car? it's not illegal to run a performance exhaust.. it's just illegal to be louder than 95 decibles. if he didn't test it.. you can leave it on. I'd go with the dp and high flow, and you can get an apex dunk exhaust which is still very good quality but more stock looking and a bit quieter. also you could stay 2.5 all the way. the greddy evo2 or sp are both very nice and meet sound requirements. Good luck
