Hello, Please help this young lady!!!! I have a 94 Ford Explorer 4*4 and when I am pushing on the gas I hear a popping noise in the engine. Also it has no willpower to get up to speed. It takes forever to get to 64 mph then it makes a little popping noise in the engine. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thank you so much.

Well, that could be anything. If the engine doesn't run correctly, it won't shift right. Frankly, 90% of the people that post here have no chance of fixing their vehicles. There are the logistics problems of time, tools, and space. Others keep replacing parts because they fail to think out the problem. If uou want to randomly try something, try plugs and wires. If you want more control of your life, buy a Haynes manual.

Success comes in cans, not can'ts.

I had a problem were I had no power and gas mileage was 10 MPG. Mechanics all said it was probable the catalytic converter, the muffler, or a blocked exhaust pipe. The old guy who has been fixing exhaust systems for a few decades said no.

The problem(s) turned out to be spark plug wires, a clogged air filter, and the PCV valve. I replaced them all but the biggest improvement happened when I replaced the spark plug wires with Ford’s wires, $60.00. They cost more but my gas mileage went up to 15 MPG and I could climb hills again.

These are the little things that we forget.
