Caliper Question

I just wanted to make sure that I understand how the caliper works before I do my first brake job. What is the best way to get the piston to push back into the caliper? Is there any special tools that I might need?
Thanks in Advance,

I just did my first. Use a small thin block of wood to put up against the piston so that it goes in flush, if it gets crooked it may get stuck. Just use a C-Clamp against the outside of the caliper and against the wood and crank 'er in. simple as that.

Yeah a C-Clamp is the easiest way.

The way I do it is put a hose on the end of the bleeder valve and loosen it to where the pressure is removed from the caliper and then while the bleeder valve is still loose just simply push the pistons back in. You just have to make sure that you bleed you brakes after your done.

The hose and bleeder valve is another way, but it being his first time I thought it better not to add more work for him.

I'm not exactly sure how these calipers work. I do it that way because I did the brakes on my 93 Grand Prix 1 time and ended up that it had some kind of pressure regulator in it preventing the fluid from going back up into the reservoir.

I have a '99 Alero and had no problems with pressure back into reservoir.
Kept checking it periodically and it flowed back in just fine. My concern was over flow cause it got close at a couple moments.
