Problems, need help...

Just installed an L06 MAFT, and a new Polished alluminum Y-pipe, Ive had problems with the stock boost gage ever since the install of the MAFT and Y-pipe. It keeps spiking insanely high(although i know its not acurate to begin with) but its completely running out and topping out. And i can hear the engine and turbos, not nearly pushing that kind of boost. the gage is completely fucking nuts, and my performance Y-pipe keeps getting blown off either at the throttle body, or at the Y on either side. Has anyone ever had a problem with the stock rubber turbo lines not sticking or tightening down good to a metal Y-pipe? Should I double up the hose clamps? or what...how are ya'lls Y-pipes installed on rubber turbo piping? What should I do, do you think the MAFT is creating so sort of ECU problem or weird boost change that could be causeing this blow off? How should i go about fixing it?

Thanks a lot!

Well I know that the stock y-pipe blows off at 15 psi, and that the stock fuel system shouldn't be pushed past 14.5psi without aftermarket boost gauge, etc...
I would check you fastenings and invest 40 bucks in a better boost gauge. Are the ends of the new y-pipe flared, if not take them to an exhaust shop or something and get them flared, they will stay on better. The MAFT allows for a great variance in tuning, so you may be running more boost than desired. Good luck.

Hey Gov? can you give me a guestimate of about how much getting my Y-pipe flared is gonna be? Its alluminum and its just getting it bent at the ends right so the piping fits over tighter and doesnt come off easily. I need to do that, but am pressed for cash completely...

Thanks,
Matt

do you have a aftermarket bov? cause that alone if not done correctly will make your psi go high.

The aftermarket y-pipe that aren't flared are notorious for blowing off (which sux, as this was the whole reason for getting one) so yes it is a common problem.

Leak in Y pipe would tend to cause your engine to run LEAN under vacuum and RICH under boost. That paired with aftermarket BOV(if it vents to the atmosphere) could cause spike..i think (correct me if I am wrong)

Well if you want some REALLY cheap/ghetto ways of fixing it, here they are:

As far as getting it flared, its an easy job. I remember hearing someone saying that their muffler shop did it for free, so I assume its pretty cheap/simple. Run it by them and see.

Also, what happened with your MAFT, did you figure out the tuning, was it the injector setting?

I would think once you got the MAFT tuned correctly, and the y-pipe to stay on that it would solve spiking in boost. But obviously, when you get the money gathered, a better boost gauge would be a good idea.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having so many problems with all these mods. It sux when you get them and can't use them right away. Just remember how sweet it will be when everything works...

I appreciate all the moral support guys, lol, this car is pissing me off, im tired of driving it around sick and seeing other cars that think they are fast look at me and want to go and me pull the "nope" waves them off kinda look. I hate that, lol. But yea, i need to get my Y-pipe flared, hopefully it will be free or cheap as hell! Should be cheap as hell anyway. Well, i figuered out part of the setting problem, I was one wrong injector size and dipswitches were wrong(according to 3Si and not the instructions) lol, but i trust those guys anyday. Im still in the tuneing process, i think im still running rich and am hitting fuel cut with these settings, dipswitches 1 and 2 are up, 3 and 4 down, base is at F, idle at 0, mid is at F, WOT is at E....still needs work but now it is idle'in great and doesnt stall out on me, soooo sweet on the idle...as for the rest of the cars acceleration and performance right now*FUCK YOU CAR*!!!

lol, thanks again, if you have any help, hook it up!
