I own a 1989 GXE and I have noticed that when I turn on my defrost/heater to any speed it causes a setback immediately in my performance. It feels just like a engine would when you turn on the AC. I have never owned a car where the heater/defrost would have the same affect as a AC would. I have made sure my AC button is not pushed in, in case some may wonder that. I just want to know if anyone else has experienced this and if so.....what to do about it? Thanks in advance.

The 89 - 94's have a feature where the AC is connected to the defrost/heater button. If the switch is far enough on the (blue/cold) side of the temperature selector and you select the defrost/heater the AC actually comes on( it does not matter if the AC button is on or off). It is in the owners manual. This feature is supposed to help control the humidty inside the car.(defog the windows/windshield/rear glass).
