98 Cherokee Transmission smoking

My 98 Cherokee 4.0 has started to smoke after long interstate drives or pulling a trailer. I figured out that it is blowing transmission fluid on the exhaust pipe which is causing the smoke. I am not leaking any on my garage floor and not losing any according to the dipstick. It has happened 3-4 times over the past year. Any help on how to correct this is appreciated!

It sounds like it is maybe heating up. If you tow anything you should have a transmission cooler. The added stress on the powertrain makes everything run warmer. Don't know why it would do it at hiway speeds without a load though. Maybe check your transmission vent also to make sure it is not plugged, if it is it may cause fluid to come out of the dipstick tube. Hope this helps
