91 Caravan Blower is dead

My 91 blower started acting up a few months ago. The switch on the panel stopped controlling the heater/ac blower. If the switch was on HI the blower would not come on...until after a while it would all of a sudden start blowing. No matter how I jiggle the switch, the blower came on full on its own. Sometimes, when the switch was in the off position, it would barely blow..I mean barely...almost like it was off but I could still feel heat coming through.

Two questions:

1) Can I jump past the resistor to rule that out by sticking wires into the resistor wiring harness to make a circuit?

2) Is the resistor bad?

3) Is the switch bad?

4) Is the blower bad and if so, how do I easily *ahem* get to it? I heard it was behind the glove box but I dont know how much of the dash I need to take off to get to it or where exactly it is. The Manual I bought from Schucks sucks.

Your problem can be any or all of the items you mentioned.

I'd suggest that you pull out the resistor and have a good look at it. Usually the windings are exposed and easy to examine. I would try bypassing the windings one at a time and operating the switch. Be careful, you can be dealing with as much as 30 or more amps.
