Re: 100+ Hp easy???

I was wondering if instead of a MPFI conversion, I would gain 15-25 Hp

by installing a header, exhaust system (from the cat. converter back),

and a big custom air intake using a K&N cone air filter? I already have

bosch platnium plugs, bosch OEM plug wires, a new O2 sensor, and I use

Lucas oil treatment for restored compression. The motor is the orignal

D15B in my 1989 DX Hatchback (5 speed manual) with about 229,000

KM (roughly 144,000 miles). I would do the MPFI if it were easy to get

the patrs here. Anyway, can anyone help me with this? Thanks.

You wont really get much of a gain when you put all those parts on with dual point injection. Only when you go mpfi will you get the better gains off your bolt ons. You could get an mpfi wherever you live, your just gonna have to get someone to ship you the stuff. Its the best way to boost your power

Actually I have a mpfi manifold for sale if your interested. 60bucks shipped

with that you should have no problem being over 100 hp.
but the mpfi swap would be a crutial point though.

Look on ebay. a pm6 computer usualy aroun 20-40 bucks. And a mpfi manifold from any civic varies 10-100 bucks. And get 4 88-91 civic ex/si injctors and a injector resistor box.

just buy a faster car

Thanks for the info and advice. I really thought about the MPFI conversion but there's no one around here that would be able to do it for me (without paying a fortune).

do you have any experience with a soldering iron? If your still in school try taking an electronics class, pay attention and practice all you can. Once you got this down you can do most of the wiring work without a problem.

As for tools and such, someone else could probly tell you if you need something not ordinarily used to work on cars ... but just about any standard tool box should work to do it.

If your willing to put some time, study, and effort into it you can do it on your own if your comfortable with it. It would also be best if you had some mechanic friend or backround ... but these are terrible easy cars to work on compared to some of the euro cars where you have to take about most of the engine to get at that one part way down in the middle.

I can solder, but i'm kinda afraid that i'll screw up the electronics parts (connecting the ecu and injectors) because it's currently my only ride. By the way, do I need a different ECU, or can I modify the old one?

you need a 88-91 civic/crx si ecu. the code for it is PM6.
