Well I've put all my Datsun projects on hold for this one! My dream car(besides my roadster) has always been '65 Conti convertible...triple black with modern running gear. A co-worker just picked one up from Vallejo(hardtop) so hopefully this model will inspire him to do the Cobra/late model Ford engine swap. I spent like 2 years looking for this amt kit...it's weird that you can build a wagon out of the convertible...

A photoshopped Conti w/23s

Nice stock hardtop w/whitewalls

What wheels should I use? I was thinking 20" wires or maybe Cobra wheels to accent its modern driveline. Whitewalls?
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/133284contiside.jpg
I also bought 2 '99 Mustang Cobra kits. I'm using the engine and rear IRS for the Conti and the other engine/susp will go to the Focus RS8 project!

One problem with this kit is that the exhaust is molded in(shown next to Cobra exhaust and IRD cradle.

Here is a pic with a 427 (1/24!!) in the Conti engine bay. A Cobra engine should fit no problem.

On a side note...I got stupid and bought 1/24 die-cast Silvia for the SR20 motor...and it's chunky looking but I tried it in a roadster and it looks alright...
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/133284srengine.jpg
It has the requisite Xenon blue lights and lit speakers/amps for bass junkys!
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/133284lights.jpg
Anyways I'll be scrapping this for interior bits.

The Lincoln kit seems to be cool, I would go with the cobra wheels. Keep us posted on the progress!

I think this build would look very clean and slick all black with wide white walls. The SVT wheels aren't bad either, but this car needs bigger wheels.
I really like the RWD focus idea, keep us posted.

It will look sweet... but i think that you should use som other wheels than those cobra wheels... cause they do not fit the boddy.
goodluck with your build

get some 13 inch Hoppin Hydro or pegasus rims and use those wide whitewalls from Hoppin Hydros

This is going to be awesome. I'd love to build a model of this car... it's just beautiful. I'd go with the Cobra wheels... but they seem a little small (honestly do, especially in the back). I really like sweet old school rides with updated driveline, and with subtle modern wheels under it.
I can't wait to see this built up, we're expecting another stunner from you! However, if you keep putting your Datsun's off, they'll never get done!

Looking good so far. The box art look like the old releases.
Say, where can I get a Focus that you pulled the wheels from? They look very familiar to something I need, just need 5-lug pattern.

I think Revell is doing the SVT focus...not sure
Id go with a full cobra wheel/tire package, and cut the exhaust off and just glue the cobra part on. Best of luck to you on this delightful ford!

Thanks for the opinions guys! I think I will go with the some large Wires, if I don't come across some 20" bling-blging wheels in the mean time!

You can get the 1/24 SVT Focus on ebay, here:

Yup, the wheels are 4-lug but they are larger in diameter than Fujimi "17" inch Watanabes!!! Really nice for your Cobra R conversion.
Does anyone know if the Revell 1/24 SVTF kit is out or not?
Yup I need to get Datsun Roadster done.......ughhh, one of these days.
