Alright, got this problem. I went to a huge swap meet to see what i could find. I came across multiple different superchargers for around $200. I was overjoyed. My problem is that i do not know enough about them to know if they will work on my car. I got the 3.4 and all of the SC that i found were for the 3.8. I was tolded however that it will fit on my car. I was also told that i need an intake new intake manfold for the super charger to work. Lastly, will my stock (everything is stock) butterfly work on the new super charger. I NEED HELP!! It would be great to get a supercharger. WOuld make my ride more **enjoyable**. Please help me with what all i need to buy and do so that it will work. Thanx. How much $$ do you think it will end up costing if i buy the $200 super charger??

well a supercharger is a supercharger. the problem with the 3.4 is finding a mounting place for the charger, not too difficult if you can fab something up (dont know where you would put it thought). the intake manifold, i would imagine, you would want it to be polished and all, to help get all the extra air into the heads. you would definitely need a new fuel regulator and perhaps a pump. last but not least, you will have to get your comp reprogrammed to adjust fuel ratios and what not for the forced induction (this of course would be a piece of cake for your local dyno). i dont really know what to tell you about belts, i guess you could run the charger off of the serpentine system, cause i know for a fact that there is no crank pulley that will run both the serpentine and a supercharger. then of course you would have to plumb your oil pressure and return lines and all. also, from looking at my engine, i would recommend parting with your A/C if you really wanted the system to fit and work well. all this in addition to new pistons, valves, connecting rods, vavle springs, rocker arms, ported and polished heads, headers-back exhaust and a hell of a lot of ingenunity...
so in closing, once you have all that stuff figured out, make two sets of everything you do and then mail me your results, i might even pay for shipping...

well, the 3.8 supercharger sits on the engine between the heads, its a roots style so there arent really any options for mounting it other than there, for the belt drive, youll have to measure it out with a string around all the pullies, and then find a belt that matches, even if its not originally for this application. then write that number down and make sure people dont try to put the short belt on again. also, your gonna have to put new pistons in that 3.4 cuz the stockers will have way to much compression and are not forged, and whenever you run forced induction or power adders, you need forged pistons. the regular and sc 3.8's are different, diff pistons, diff compressions, diff cams, etc. etc., i would read up on those two engines, and make a list of everything thats different between them, because thats probly the list of things youll have to change on your 3.4 to make sure it lasts more than a quarter mile pass when you bolt it all together.

are you guys talking about the 3.8 supercharger that comes on like the the grand prix, from the factory? cause that one will not work on any engine other than the pontiac 3.8, not without extensive fabrication and basic making-it-work-ation. vortex i think is the company that makes an aftermarket centrifugal supercharger that mounts remotely on the engine block somewhere. thats what i was talking about making it work, i have always heard that the pontiac supercharge will not work on the chevy 3.8, let alone the 3.4...
