Transmission

Will the RB26DETT work in conjunction with a 300ZX(1993-up) manual transmission? Or will I have to spend the extra money and buy that transmission as well?

I have seen it done. They used the zx box with a rb25 bellhousing,not sure on clutch/pressureplate they used tho.

The GTR gearbox is a 4wd box. The equivlant would be the R33 GST25T manual box which is a RWD. It is not so much the bell housing that is different but the entire houseing due to the transfer case setup which is also integrated as part of the overall housing I have asked the same questions and it is not worth converting it over. You are better off money wise and head ache wise dropping in a 25T box.
