I need some help here guys.

About a month ago my 1987 Celica GT (3s-fe) overheated. Coolant was leaking onto the engine block, creating lots of steam. I immediately thought I blew the head gasket and I took it into my mechanic for repairs. He told me the head gasket was fine but the cylinder head had a hairline fracture from which the coolant was escaping. He told me the best option would be to patch up the fracture with a special compound which he applied to the outside of the engine. Anyway, four days after the repair I noticed a bit of steam from the engine and sure enough the coolant was leaking again from the exact same spot - where the cylinder head and block meet.

What are my options? The engine has 179,000kms and the body is in near mint condition. Should I have the cylinder head replaced with a refurbished one or throw a new motor in there. Can this car be saved from the grave yard on a limited budget?

dont replace the engine just for a cylinder head unless your not happy with the performance, jus replace the cylinder head with a new one from toyota im sure they can drag one up from somewhere.

If your reall desperate look in some salvage yards for cars that were in accidents with little or no damage to the engine.. Some salvage yards will tell you whats the millage on the car it came from, and some will even tell you what happened to the car.. That will probably be the cheapest route.. If you hate the performance like 00 said then yeah this is the time to just get another engine, but I would get the head changed and be done with it personally..
