Problem with GS Shifting?? Help?!!!

My friend was revving the engine around 7000 rpm when he clutched. When he clutched, we thought the Teg's engine Blew, instead it seemd like it stalled for us. While this was happening, the "stalled" moment, my friend clutched first gear, we thought it would luacnh or do a burn out, instead it didnt do anything. He switched it into 2nd, then 3rd then 4th...nothing...a good 10 seconds later, it ran. everything was going fine. We later smelt a burning rubber, not the tires, but from inside the engine...around the Intake Manifold, but this smell was a slight smell. This is a 99' Integra GS, manual, 70,000 miles. GOOD condition...just need some help on what happend, and why it "stalled" for this car. We revved it 5000-7000 rpms, didnt seem all that bad, until it stalled. This car has never ben revved until my friend bought it. so...Teg friends? whats the problem here in his GS?
