what's your guy's take on these new web sites ( allshoprus.com )( repo-car.com )that sell cars to you from government auctions, or seized cars and things like that? i've surprisingly heard good things but there must be some sort of catch to it all.

yea i think some of them you have to be in a government occupation.....i dont know about the website auctions though....they have cop auctions exclusively for cops just like they have dealer auctions exclusively for dealers....but yea if i found a good deal there, i would go for it

You get what you pay for basically... Government needs to get rid of old shit too... Id assume that itd just be like the local auto auction you find in bad neighborhood.. High mileage cars come in... Cleaned up put on an open lot.. People buy them without being able to test drive them... Most of the time with no warranty available... Sometimes you win..sometimes you lose.. Actually.. i just went to a police auction this morning.. looking for a honda to get me to work and put the GST in the garage for nice days...Basically cars that were impounded and left behind.. .Sometimes cause the person went to jail and cant get it out, abandoned, or owner cant come up with the money.. So who knows.. Question about dealer auction though.. .Is it hard to get a dealer auction license from the DMV(assuming thats where you would aquire one?)

Actually if i remember right... Cause i was looking into this just the other day.. If they say you have to pay money, then it usually ends up with you going around in circle... The government actually has a site where the information is given away free... I dont know for sure.. This is just based on the research that i did for myself last week..

it's sound like a hell of a deal. they have brand new cars going for thousands less than what they would, and all you have to do is fix a couple things. I saw a supra on one these sites for like 6 grand. There must be some sort of catch to this, but i plan to look into it and i'll see what i come up, if anyone else has any info or has ever tried it let me know.

My buddy bought an explorer at one of the gov't auctions. it only had like 70k on it and it was a 98 and he got it for 3500 bucks. it's an eddie bower (spelling?) edition too. So there are def deals to be had. it's all a matter of lookin at the cars and seeing if they have anything you might want, then getting lucky enough to get it for what you want. as far as the sites go, I'm not sure how that would work, but it seems like a good deal.

If you do that then watch out, because a lot of car dealers go to those auctions and get cars super cheap and double the price. They also are less worried about a spending limit.

The guy that use to dominate the show series with that Chameleon supra bought the car from an auction for $12,000... This was like 3 or 4 years ago... Actually went to buy back his wrecked Del Sol... So you can definately find a deal, but just be aware that when they're asking you to pay for information.. COuld be a runaround..Best to do your own research..

i joined a while back, it is all bull shit. i would not even bother. waste of 30 bucks. the governemtn does ahve their own page but i dunno if i would even do that either. the ebst way to buy cars at auctions is to know someone, such as a car salesman, who has access to them.

i did the repo-car.com one over a year ago and they gave me numbers and address to nothing that isnt obvious in your phone book.. its not like after you pay they have a nice listing of cars. it just gets u a directory to possible places that maybe once a year do that sort of thing. waste of money imo and they didnt refund me back the fee when i requested it the same day.
ask around and look in your phonebook/on google for auctions in your area and im sure you'll find a decent place someplace close.
if your really looking for a low priced DSM i suggest just using cars.com and autotrader.com maybe even yahoo auto's and looking all ACROSS the country ... you'll find somebody selling a nice awd dsm for cheap..
prime example.. in tampa, fl now there is a guy selling a 95 talon tsi awd with 72k miles and some perf mods..(3" exhaust, intake, sway bar, etc) for 4500.

or look on ebay. that is the cheapest way plus they now have an return policy. but know the car your bidding on becuase i'm sure it's major hassle to return it.
