installing clutch

how hard would u rate this job? does the engine have to be pulled?

btw: we were just talking about how long and so on in another thread. if you take your time and have the correct tools, you should be able to do it within 2 days. some people say just drop the tranny. but that depends who you talk to. i say that is a pain in the ass. it is much easier to yank engine & tranny together. i feel it's easier to mate up the tranny and bolt it back on outside of the car.
after we did gta's engine swap we found out the tranny someone gave us was no good. figured we would try just dropping the tranny back out. OMG that sucked trying to line it up and stuff it back in! :banghead:
it's like murphy's law....if you try and rush, something WILL GO WRONG!

imo, if u have help it takes a day at most if u have all the tools/parts needed, thats with dropping the tranny.... i should know.. i've had 2 clutchs installed in the past 4 or 5 months, (need another one again) and blew the backend off my tranny once
the only thing that will take awhile is getting the flywheel machined which i found out my dad never did! and i'm fucking pissed at him now because the clutch is slipping again!!!!!!!!!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

2 days? geez you guys are slow. i do them in about 6 hours. that includes waiting for the shop to turn the flywheel.
then again, i am kinda sorta an ASE mechanic and some other certifications or some bull.
seriously man, take your time, make sure everything is put back in the right way. dont wanna rush it and make a mistake. cause taking it back apart sucks

shoot, jer yanked out the a6 and bolted his b16 in within 4 hrs...all but the wiring done. i'm saying for a person trying it for the first time to give themselves 2 days.
1 day to pull it out and replace the clutch. then you have all of day 2 to take your time putting it back in.

I've never done one on a 4g but I helped my friend do his clutch/flywheel/pressure plate and the hardest part was getting the tranny back in and all that. Everything else was pretty straight forward.
