:sly: Are you talking about the sport/tour mode on the VR4s? (I don't know if the SLs have it or not).
One thing these cars are not - is silent.

So you just need a plastic replacement switch for the active exhaust. Yeah, either go to a junkyard or try your Mitsu dealership. It can't be that expensive. They should have them on all 91-94 vr4s if I am not mistaken. Did yours break?
vr4lover

its not broken. its just not there. And there is no vr-4s in the scrapyards around where i live. It is a very rare car here in iowa. thanks for all the help. i will check the dealer. I was in there once and they didn't know what was supposed to be there.

Let us know how it turns out...if they can't get you one, and you still need one, maybe I can check with a local dealership and mail you one.

something to silence the exaust? does SL have them? i have an SL and they do have the Tour Sport button
Nesryn

I don't think the SL's have them.... The Tour/Sport thing just controls the suspension...

The Tour/Sport controls the exhaust. The ECS controls the suspension.

But ECS has a tour and sport option too...

but the button says ECS for the suspention and the exhaust switch says sport/tour.
vr4lover,
You may be able to put the switch in your car, but it wont do anything.

guys i have the ecs button and i know what it does. i am just looking for the button that sits to the left of the rear defrost button. it is a 92 vr-4

what the hell, ok, the ECS button stands for Electric controlled suspention, it switches to sport suspention which means the suspention is more firm, it has nothing to do with the exaust

button that sits on the left of the defrost? on the other side of the dash? the button below it is the ECS, but two on the other side has nothing to do with exaust i dont' think, for a 92, one of the buttons on the other side is for the head lights to flip up. and the one under that or above, but still on the same side is for the fog lights....

I swear I think every year they wired different things to different buttons. on the left of my steering wheel I have fog lights and a dummy button. I assume that the button for silent exhaust(aka active exhaust button) that says "sport/touring" on it, should (on your 92) be where my dummy fake button is (on my 96).
Try talking to the dealership again. Now here's what I am not sure from your post.
Is it 1: you have a hole in your dash, with no button there at all, but it is already wired, so that if you put a button in...it would work?
or 2: you have a fake button there(like in my 96) that does nothing? And you need a button and to get it wired to work?
Sorry for the confusion, but if it is scenario #1, and you can't find one, I can ask a local dealership around here and send it to you.

Ok, big mistakes here. On the left of the steering wheel for first gens are fog lights and a pop up light button that keeps the pop up lights up for maintenance. Im out.

the button that says ECS, i think not. the letters ECS doesnt' have anything to do withthe EXAUST!! it stands for Electronically Controlled Suspension, which makes the handleing more firm by tightening the struts and shocks...

and the blank button on your left is only for 1st gens, for the flip up lights and fog lights, so 93SL Fl is correct on that point cuz i to have a 93 SL

Yes, we know, the point is that you have 2 buttons.
BOTH your ECS and your active exhaust have "sport modes"
The button that says ECS is for ECS, the button that has "sport/touring" written on it is the active exhuast button. That is what we are talking about...NOT ECS or flip up lights!
