springs and shocks

If you drop your car about 1.5 inches, how long will your stock shocks last? I heard that if you put on lowering springs that you will have to buy new struts or shocks, is this true? What is the timeframe?

It really depends on your driving style. My shocks still have a little left on them, and my car has been lowered for about 32K miles. Just try to avoid potholes and bumps...
