Blown.

Well... looks like I've blown my head gasket pretty good...
Car still runs, but it overheats, and the oil leaking out of it is getting on my alternator, causing the belt to squeal like a boiled cat, and the battery indicator light flickers...
Needless to say, I'm broke as shit right now, and my girl just quit her job, so I'm supporting both of us, and even though I just got a second job on the weekends, I won't have any money to fix the a6 or any money to drop the y8 in (still need all gaskets, ECU, Dizzy, and wiring harness adapter). Unless I can drop the y8 in and use my Si dizzy and ECU? Anyone know?

i know, i know!
ROTFL, that's how mine is set-up. y8 with a6 dizzy, ecu, and intake mani. you'll have no vtec, so basically you'll have an a6 again. use an rpm activated switch and you'll have vtec....should you feel the need to have vtec now rather than later

Seriously? Fuckin' sweet! So I may just be able to get that dropped in anyways... All I'd need is the gaskets. Did you use the z6 TB or the A6? Do I have to use the a6 intake manifold or the y8?
Then, once that was done, it wouldn't be too much trouble to toss a z6 dizzy and P28 ECU in the mix...

dude, that sucks. but yea, use all the a6 stuff on the y8 and you have it running at least. then when you get the extra $$ all you need to do is get the p28, z6 dizzy and conversion harness and you can get it all set up with vtec.

of course i'm serious :thefinger
when we did my swap we got it all in (conversion harness and all) to find out the cap & rotor were no good on y8. we tried just throwing just the a6 dizzy with the p28 still in and couldn't hold a good idle. next morning we tried it with the a6 parts and it started right up, just no vtec.
you 100% DO have to use the a6 intake mani. the y8's have a different impedance to the injectors. before you ask about just using y8 injectors, we tried that too. a6 mani & y8 injectors :nono: the y8 & a6 injectors have slightly different tips and the injectors themselves seat a little differently.
we left the a6 TB as the MAP sensor is on the y8 TB.

just treat it as an a6 reaplcement, just use the head and block of the y8, use the a6 complete intake manifold, dizzy, and ecu, and even wiring harness.
heres a pic of amis engine to show what it should look like
