popping noise

I have a 93 325I that has a pop when i back up and hit the brakes. It also pops once going foward when i hit the brakes. It sounds like it is coming from the front somewhere. I replaced the rotors while looking for the noise and took it to the alignment shop for them to find the problem. They couldn't find anything wrong. It is loud and very irritating. Has anyone had a similar noise?
