Kinda a poll here. Our Tahoe seems 95% highway driving, mixture of ice and snow from Dec. to Feb. I want a good all season tire that is quiet. It currently has some Bigfoots from BigO on it, they are noisey do not grip for *&^#. I was thinking a good Michlen-but I am not familiar with any of thier brands, I am running the BFG A/T's on my truck and love them for traction, but I do not need that aggressive of tread for the Tahoe. I have looked at some Goodyear and BFG's as well. For those of us who's Tahoes see primarily highway miles, what tires are you runnin?

I'm not going to put on really wide ones, tall ones or meaty ones. They look cool, but they are not practical for me right now.

Put on Michelin LTX A/T you will love them. LT265/75 R16

Look and see if they make BFG "Long Terrains" for your Tahoe. They are more of a highway tire, and are the best all-season I can think of.

Just my opinion, but I could not stand the BFG Long Trails that were on my Tahoe when I bought it. I replaced them when the truck had 52K on it, and they never gripped very well, especially in snow. They also were a lot more mushy on corners, due to softer sidewalls.

I went with the Mich. 265/75/16 LTX AT's and I now have 143K on the truck. That's 90K and I still have about 1/4" of tread left! This last season I did finally notice some loss of traction due to the tread wear... These are amazing tires!

I rotate every 7K and balance every 25K and they ride nice and smooth. They do have a slight amount of road hum due to the heavier lugs on the sides, but nothing like some of the other AT tires iv'e experienced. The LTX-MS is a great all season as well, without the lugs on the sides. MOre of a highway all-season tire. Had great luck with those on my 3/4 ton conversion van...

HAD Firestone Wilderness LE's -- not worth less than the weights used to balance

Had Michelin X Radial LT -- not bad, seemed to be a little mushy in the corners

Currently have the old style Goodyear RT/S. Not bad seem to had corners better. Getting slightly better gas mileage than Michelins. Good as far as sound levels.

My votes for Michelin LTX as the best all terrain tire. I have had BF Goodriches, Bridgestones, Firestones. The Michelins were the best overall tire as ride, sound level, grip in all surface conditions and wear.

I am considering a switch from the cr@ppy Goodyear At's to Bridgestone Dueler Revo's. Anyone know what is the maximum tire size (that won't rub on full lock turn or under load) for stock 17" rims on a 2004 Tahoe Z71? The stock tire on the Z71 is 265/70/17.

Michelin LTX M/S. They are perfect for this car.

BF Goodrich Long Trail TA's are also supposed to be good.

Do not get the Michelin SUV's -- too soft and they wear out quickly.

Don't get the Goodyear Wranglers -- or your rear end will fishtail in the rain. Several friends who had those on their cars (from the factory) had the same issue I had.

I own a 2002 Tahoe and I only have 40K miles. My Tahoe came stocked with Goodyear Wranglers 245/75/16. I already have to replace my tires! I brought two more of the same and I highly regret it. They squeal and did not give good traction at all. I say buyer beware for anyone considering these tires.

I'm currently looking for another brand to replace the other two. I hate these tires so much, I'm considering buying all four and doing away with the two new Wranglers.

I'm going to look into the Michelin tire, thanks to this forum!

I have put 60,000 or so miles on a 1997 Tahoe. It had Michelines when I bought it and I had no complaints about those tires. I replaced with Bridgestone Dueller's. Supposedly a 60,000 mile tire and the tread was down to 1/32nd after a whopping 28,000 miles. DUELLERS SUCK.

I replaced those with a full set of Firestone Destination LE's and I have been thoroughly impressed with them. The ride GREAT, no road noise, awesome traction, and they are an attractive tire as well.

I would highly recommend the Destination LE's. Another suggestion - check out the online reviews at tirerack.com for any tire you are considering buying.

My 1997 Tahoe (6.5l) came to me with BFG A/T's and lasted 58,000 miles. They were not the stock tire but I suspect (due to other mods) they were put on when the vehicle was new.

I next put on Bridgestone Dualer A/T and have 52,000 on them after doing extensive research and talking to one owner. I expect they will outlast the BFG's. They were much less expensive. They seem to be a good all-around tire, open but not aggressive tread relative to the BFG's.

I'm planning to on another set for this soccer mom's kiddie hauler.
