i have a 1999 2.7 litter intrepid... with 120,000 miles on it. the power i get out of it is alright but i want more. i was looking at putting a 318 into one? is this a good idea or not? would it be worth it and how hard would it be to make the changes needed to work?

If you can't even decide if it's a good or bad idea, you obviously have no sense of how difficult it would be to do this. It might be worth it, but it would be highly impractical. I assume you plan to keep it front wheel drive? I don't think the 318 will match with the transmission that is already in there, and that transmission is the kind you need to have it work as a front wheel drive. With this out of the way, about all you could do is set everything up so that it is rear wheel drive. Now you're looking at getting a different rear axle, making a good driveshaft that won't vibrate, upgrading your brakes and suspension to handle everything, beside all of the wiring and cooling and steering parts that you will have to alter.

Basically: no, don't even think about attempting this.
