91 taurus wagon wont start

i had a question about my taurus which will not start. I read some other posts about starter problems and cars not starting, but i am still not sure if my taurus has a brocken starter.
if i turn the key in the ignition, the car makes a grinding sound. it sounds as if gears were grinding against eachother but not catching. the engine does not turn either. does anyone know what the problem could be? i woud be very grateful if someone would reply.

i am not sure about it .. did you check anything battery work ? it sound like if you won't start that means Starter i did it replaced my old car 1992 cavalier rs chev then fine work.. have you take out and take to shop to test it if its not work u would know its not work then ..
