Ive been trying to work out some problems ive been having with these skunk stage 2 cams, Ive heard that using a piggyback fuel computor might be causing my vtec to run shitty. Does this sound right to any of you guys out there? or is running a chipped ecu and vafc perfectly fine?
thanks

did you get adjustable cam gears and take it to a dyno?

I did take it to the dyno, and got the fuel mixture just about perfect, I do also have sdjustable cam gears, but the guy tunning the car did not adjust them, is it possible that the intake cam needs to advanced or retarded? I have a pretty big flat spot in my HP curve when my car switches to the vtec lob. Any more help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, a chipped ECU is doing one thing, and your VAFC is doing another, they are more than likely fighting over who gets what. I have never understood the idea of running a chipped ECU, and another system that does the same thing. You can try advancing you intake, and or retarded you exhaust, this can permit a bigger charge before TDC and detonation, but you'll have to experiment as to what works on you set up...could be completely opposite for you. But you shouldn't have a flat spot at vtec, my dynos jump like Mike Jordan when vtec switchs over.

Hahaha, here is one with my VAFC dumping tooo much fuel, I leaned it back and made some more up top, but don't have them on digital form yet...

That's about a 13Kw jump.

I can tell you right now that the chip probably doesn't do you any good beside hurting your engine and preformance.

I see these so call performance chip all the time, all it does is to drown the engine with fuel and make the vtec switch over later. Unless your car has the exact same mods as the car that the chip is program for, all you are doing is to make holes in your dyno curve.

not all chips are bad. i had my ecu chipped to get rid of the knock sensor, speed governer and rev limit. my shop also rom-tuned my car, which makes my vafc basically useless... but i kept it cause it still looks nice.

the problem with your car could just be bad tuning, cause i have both installed and no problems at all. just look how smooth that baby is.
