Squeeking noise....

My MX3 has been making this squeeking noise... it does it every now and then for no particular reason... I can shift at 3,000rpm or 6,500rpm.. it still does it.. it's kind of frustrating.. and kind imbarising. I wish my car would just quit swuealing... it sounds like a belt, the squeeking speeds up as the engine speed increases but it's eventually drounded out my the engine.. but it doesn't do it all the time and my belts were just changed this past october.. what's the problem.. I can't seem to figure it out...

Does it only happen when it is cold? And when it happens, is it like a clicky squeak, or like a constant squeak?

It's a constant... but it's random... just goes on and off when it feels like weather the engine is warm or cold...

mine does the same thing...i have a pos fiero....but i think mine is a bearing...it goes away at like 3500rpm.(dont kno if its just my loud holly exhaust) but it went away for like 2 months when i was having alternator problems...i had to change it 3 times, and the sound went away for a month and just came back...im thinkin they(or you) might have overtightened the belts just a little..

it might be your pulleys, whenever its cold out my pulleys squeak, the faster I rev the louder it gets. Usually it goes away after like 45 minutes of driving. But...I don't know. I'd have to actually hear it to be able to help you out much. Do you know about where it is in the engine bay?

it sounds around the alternator area, it's on the front side of the engine (side of the engine closest to the headlights). and the noise it like a chirping squeek.... if that helps

It may just be your pulleys. My car does the same thing...it's nothing to worry about really. If it gets consistently worse then get it checked out. But my friend and I got inside and decided that it was my pulleys.

now my car is making a new weird noise, one to three times it will make a sound like a older car makes when you hit steer lock... anyone have this problem?

I never have...you seem to have alot of problems! Check your power steering pump, maybe you're low on fluid. Maybe your pump is going bad...honestly though, when it comes to power steering, I don't know too much. I don't know much more than the fact that I LOVE the person who invented it!

ya... i'm deffinately thinking of sellin my MX-3 after I fix it... want to get a 89-93 240sx S13.... coupe.... it starts out with 25 more HP than a US MX-3, but with a SR20DET it'll be really fun then... bescides workin on FF is really hard especically with our car... lol

Honestly...I wouldn't get a 240sx. My friend has one, and for one, I personally don't like the looks as much as the MX3, 2) I try to be as loyal to mazda and the mx3 as possible, 3) My friends 240 has given him nothing but trouble. always fixing it!

that's probably because of the KA24 engine, the SR20 it alot better, and anyone who gets a 240 and wants a better engine gets the SR20... but I perfer FR over FF and the only Mazda that I like with that setup is the FC RX-7 and my current insurace will not insure the RX-7 but it will the 240sx.

I must admit...I've seen some sweet 240s. But unless you get the Silvia front end conversion...I don't really like the looks...that's just my opinion.
So Good luck on whatever you decide...the 240 or the MX3.

the big thing I like about the 240 coupe is the "cat-eyes" (aka pop-up headlights) always been a fav of mine... and besides I like that version of the Sil-Eighty than the 180sx back with the Silvia front... :p
