Hello,
I just found these forums and was hoping somebody could help me.
I have a 93' Ford Explorer, it doesn't have 4x4. Just today I started having trouble when accelerating, it makes a grinding noise when you start to accelerate, and lags a little when you try and put it in reverse. Tranny fluid seems fine, it's full anyway. The day before I had some slight trouble, when I accelerated it would shake real bad, then go away. I'm not much of a mechanic so any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

The lagging in reverse is the result of the O ring on the low/reverse servo leaking. This is easy to replace when the pan is dropped. I posted the procedure and parts needed a while back in one of the threads. Use Search "low reverse" and look under "What did I do to my tranny." If you can change a filter you can do this. Shaking could be anything. Mostly those things are outside the transmission, like U joints.
