EVO versus WRX

Well i'm driving on the 210 freeway going eastbound. I see a WRX ahead of me. It was black, and had the typical rims that come with the car (Not the rip off rims that Subaru sells as an option). First thing I noticed is what has to be described as the largest catback exhaust I have ever seen. That sucker was easily wider then 3". I'd say it was close to a 4" exhaust. Interestingly he has new plates on it (Just purchased, I dunno). After checking out his car, I tried to catch a glimpse of him to see if he was ready to play. His windows were tinted. Now that I think of it I think he had the bug eye front end, so maybe he purchased the car and it already had mods done to it. Anyways, I down shift to 4th, and I see what i thought I saw was him getting on it. I slammed on the gas and pass him up. It's kinda a gradual opull away, making roughly 3 cars from my rear bumper. This is where all the shit hits the fan. He starts to tailgate me. I see another opening (Gosh this fags drive like shit in semi trucks btw, I think they must be blind, cause they keep going into the lane I am racing in), so i get on it again. I gotta say, when people say that after 6000 rpms the EVO falls on its face, theyb are FREAKING right!!!!! :lol: This guy is literally having to slam on the brakes cause his car is almost fender bending me. WTF!!!!! I was beginning to wonder if something was wrong on my car. After going around some asshole in a semi driving literally 30 mph (I had to swerve into the breakdown lane). I see him go to the left lane. This time I shifted early to 5th. I'm on his bumper, and i see traffic up ahead. I stepped on the brakes cause I didn't want him to slam into the guy in front of him. Interestingly I smelled something weird, and it wasn't brake pads. :cwm27: This guy was pretty nuts. I gave him a thumb up, and he gave me a what happened expression. Later on he finally rolled down his window and gave out a peace sign. I'm not 100% positive, but I think he might have sprayed. Oh well, it was fun and way too dangerous.

well from my personal experience, the evo pulls damn hard in every gear except for 5th. thats when the car hits a wall. but it still pulls impressive just not as ballistic as the other gears. anyways yeah modded wrx are pretty quick, they're not as quick as the evo but they are faster then you think they are. so how are you enjoying the evo's super response handling? do you finally see what the hype is all about?

The handling is unreal. I was hitting corners at well over 100 mph on that stint. That guy's car seemed to wallow comparatively. Now that I saw Brodie's car i'm sure this guy had the newer front end. I would have loved to know his mods, and whether or not he sprayed. Are you meeting with us say Saturday in pasadena TatII? BTW what mods do you think that WRX had besides a catback?

nah i live on the other end of the states. i live in the east coast in nyc. hahah anyways, he probrably have a intake and exhuast. the exhuast alone usually nets you 13-15whp, and the intake would add like another 4-7whp. so from that your looking at 20ish whp gain on a 180whp car so hes probrably making 200whp. but if he goes hard core, he can get a up pipe, take out his 3 cats, ( not sure how many is there but theres alot of them in the WRX ) and raised boost. that along with the intake and exhuast will give him alittle over 40 whp. now from what i'm thinking he mightive got a electronic boost controller, and he probrably jumped becusae he hit the scramble boost botton ( it allows you bypass your set boost and run a slightly higher boost on command ). those wrx's usually run like a high 13 to mid 13 at best in the 1/4

sidenote: my friend with the evo had an encounter with a modded wrx on the way as well. all he could see was the catback, but the wrx started with him by taking off, my friend with the was in 4th so he just floored it in 4th without downshifting. to his surprise he was barely catch up. once he caught him, he couldn't lose him. my friend was like damn, if only i downshifted to 3rd i mightly lost him but it would too late. oh wellz.
