I am thinking about adding another contour line below the doors, like the one shown, only slightly lower, halfway between the door bottom and the bottom of the body side. What do you experts think? Is it too much?

I think adding another contour line is a bit much. But what do you think about adding the Modena air intake right behind the door?

I looked at an intake there and I thought it was too much. I prefer a clean look overall. Just cant decide about this contour like. It's like me trying to pick out a tie to wear.
Someone asked about a name for this beast. I modeled it after the Alfa Romeo Competitione show car, but its not exact enough to call it that. Since its part Ferrari and my name is Ken, it became the Kenzo.

I can see why you might want another line, but I wouldn't use a straight one. Maybe something more skirtlike, wider at the back (merging into the fender) and tapering to nothingness before hitting the front wheels. It's not totally necessary though, your clean look works really well.

I'm not sure about the contour line in the rocker panel...that's usually a spot where there's a contour like you describe to visually lengthen the car, and it's usually tied into the rocker panel and the door cut. By having it halfway between the door and the bottom, it looks more contrived. Most modern cars have some sort of horizontal break line running along that area, you need to decide if your car is a modern interpretation or from a vintage era. If it's modern, it would likely have some sort of break line, and the door cut would make part of that line. A simple piece of half-round styrene that's covered by BMF would look okay, but perhaps out of character on this car. A cut line going all the way across which includes the door cut could be accompanied by some sort of indented detail below it.
Another thing to consider is how the rocker area ties in visually w/the front and rear valances. Modern cars generally have a visual tie-in between the rockers and the front/rear valances...especially when you're talking Ferraris and Alfas. It can be very subtle, if you do add detail to the rockers consider doing similar tweaks in front of the front wheels and behind the rear wheels.
This is quite a project! :smokin:

I agree with Zoom-zoom. The line under the doors looks awkward. I was thinking the same thing about the cut lines. Right now your car looks like a kit car, with a solid fiberglass body, or a one off concept machine. If you want to make it look like a mass produced car, you'll need the panel lines between the body panels, and I think something like that will add the visual interest that you seem to be after with that character line under the door.
I had a thought about your rear end, too, how about a couple straight vents, like the F40 has behind the rear wheels.
By the way,you and Zoom-zoom are rightly making me feel like an amature.

like previously said the panel lines will give it the look of a more mass produced car, i think it would be very nice and subtle as well. thel ine under the door is just going a little too far imo. either that or you could add a side skirt that is flat to the ground and brings the rear fender up to meet with the front. (wow thats hard to describe).

Well, I think I have a consensus about the second contour line - its gone, but I like the idea of some panel lines. I'll ponder on that awhile. Lots of other work to do in the meantime. Thanks for all your input. You're helping me alot!

I'm suprised someone dredged this thread up from the depths. I've been working on the Kenzo religiously and it should be finished within a week. I've been taking a few pics along the way and will update soon. Its looking very good. Thanks again to Zoom Zoom, Veyron, Willimo, and all the others who contributed.
