Well thought i try and get sum insight into my car problems here; my car sometimes(now all the time) will be running fine i will turn it off and when i go to start it it does nothing, the lights and radio still work so you can rule the battery out, but the problem has happened so rarely that i never got it fixed cause it would always start within hours i thought the problem might be associated with rain a common factor but i can't say that it has always gotten wet.But now im at the end cause it won't start at all and my starter was fixed 2 yrs ago..i just don't want to get ripped off at the garage can anyone help??

greatly appreciated!

If your inline fuse , or any ignition fuses are loose they may create this problem you described , ckeck the power wire going from the battery to the main fuse box , are they connected tight? the main ignition fuse or any ignition fuse popped of or simply isnt touching elements good enough. These are the first things id check. make sure you check them all.

Unless you actually know what you are doing with electrical systems, I'd take it in to get fixed. IMO I wouldn't even ask someone else to tell me how to fix it.

I had a similar problem on an older car last year 89 firebird so not sure if this will help you out. THe car would be running fine but occasionally would turn the key and nothing would happen until an hour or so later. Turned out to be a hall-effect sensor, located under disbtributor cap.

No you can't. It takes far less power to operate lights and radio than it does to start the engine. Your problem sounds exactly like bad connections on battery/starter circuit. What you need to do is to pull off the battery cables and clean the corrosion, then put some anti corrosion goop on the terminals. You can get a wire brush made to clean the terminals. Pull the negative first, then the postive, clean, reconnect the postive then the negative last. Now follow the negative cable to where it goes to ground, disconnect and clean thoroughly that connection and reconnect. Now go under the car and do the same for the solenoid and starter.

Its the park/nuetral switch, basically the car thinks its in gear and therefore won't start. when it happens again, move the gear selector around a few times and then try to start it.

BTW I'm assuming its an automatic?
