detuned version in the US,,, *sight* :bloated: I like the Original one better in looks and power of course. then again they had to bring some what of the car to the US market you couldnt hold this car back even if you tried good public demand I should say.... either way they are still very nice cars

I just got my Silver 5-speed WRX last week and i'm loving it. I'll be loving it even more once I really get good at driving a stick shift :P Anyways I like the looks but I like the performance even better. At this point I couldnt even care what it looks like. I placed an order before I even saw one in person. I knew this was too good to pass up. It feels like it was carved out of granite, and it's the first car i've driven thats I can honestly say is faster than my limits can handle (at this point). But to each his own. I love the looks of the old RS, but I think I like this even better, just for its uniqueness. I put eyelids on my 93 Legacy and a couple of round Hellas...you'd be hard pressed to distinguish it from a 2.5 RS.

I love the styling! I think it is stealthy, but a true rally/subbie jjunkie can appreciate it.
COULD THE STi VARIANT MAKE IT OVER?? in car and driver they say probably, as could a full-zoot evo. That would be cool, 276 (official) hp, about 275 lb-ft, (so probably 330 hp), huge brakes, etc.
My friends think it is ugly, but I love it, alot.:) :)

Good to see you got your WRX. I think its awesome, and it s good to see others do, and k ow enoough to buy it unseen. Tell us if you mod it! (although I do feel a little ripped off, as they may bring the STi over, for only 5 grand more. It should have been part of the original deal)

Do you mean 'pimp ride' as a compliment or insult?

unite@af

That would have to be a compliament

Chris

Yeahhh! Cuz I had to 'inform' my friends how good the WRX is. An easy way is just spill out a whole bunch of stats, and they don't understand. But they know I love it. Ohhh, anyone wanna take me for a (hair-raising) ride?? Please, I will sell you everything my brother has.

the STi variant should come over here. Car and Driver tested one last year. They figured it had 300-320hp. It did 0-60 in 4.7 sec. It costs about 40 grand. Then again, nothing else can touch it (M3 is close in accelaration, but no all wheel drive and it understeers, for cripes sake) The STi is as close as u can get to the rally car. Not to mention it looks bitchin (huge wing, ground effects, etc). Just drop in some NOS, some breating enhancements, and you can have 450hp! Make mine blue.

ummm, in the STI's stock form there is a car that is less expensive and can beat it. The Lancer Evolution IV, V, or VI. The STI is still an amazing car though and in the hands of a good driver CAN beat an EVO. The feud between the STI and the EVO in japan is probably even more heated than the battle between the Mustangs and camaros/firebirds here in the states. The performance between the cars is so close it is almost impossible to decide the true winner. In my personal opinion the EVO beats it tho. You just can't go wrong with the EVO AWD system, its easily the best.

The WRX is a better everyday driver (everythings relative). When they both come here, the battle will rage all over the world. which is good. And the new WRX STi will be 30 grand, equal with the Evo. This could get interesting.

I think I like subaru because it taught me about rally, if it had had the Evo in the article, I would be an Evo fan. Thats how close it is.

He y guys and girls. Two days ago I got the car of my dreams. I was originally gonna get a nissan spec v sentra, but i had to wait 2 months for it, so i got fed up and said FU*K IT, Ill spend the extra money and get the REX. Man was I happy It's 2002 WRX Metallic Black all stock for now.

I hope i can get a digital camera soon, so that i can post some pics.

I like the way everyone shares info in the forums. It's a good learning tool.

I was thinking of getting and exhaust system for it, but i dont know what to get and where to look for it. Also, how much should i pay for an exhaust kit (CAD$), and how much of a difference dopes it really make. I know that when i had my turbo civic the exhaust made some serious power, but will it be the same for the REX?.

Please let me know, and keep on sharing information. POWER IS KNOWLEDGE AND KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.

PEACE

BTW is there anyone in the forum that has a REX from Toronto?

Just wondering.

Well, in a turbo car, and since the motor is almost the same as the STi, an exhaust will make a very significant increase in power. Especially if you up the boost, which I would recommend (I'm not sure how to adjust the wastegate, but its probably just a chip.)
Also, the WRX has 3 catalytic converters, I would remove 2 (especailly the one between the cylinders and the turbo, it increase 'spool up' time a lot)

And I live near Toronto...:D

Well....today i put a 3" custom exhaust from the last cat back. with a high flow muffler.

I rebbot the system computer, so it will be a matter of time before the managment system tunes itself accordingly.

But i do notice an increase in power on the top end. The car pulls to the redline without hesitation.

Hopefully when the exhaust is broken in the car will sound nicer.

Now it has that rally wrx growl. hopefully it will hollow out a bit.

Ill keep you posted on it comes along.

Are you sure you should be driving the car that hard at such an early time? You've only had the car for a couple of days and you already changed the exhaust and you're redlining the car? Is it broken in already?

I bought the car as a demo from a local dealership where i had bought my 99 2.5 rs. the car had 14,000 km on it when i got is so i think its ok now.

What do you think.

Instead of just ressetting the comp, just get a new engine management chip. IT will be much more aggressive with timing, and it will keep the wastegate closed longer, meaning more boost.
Here are some sites for WRX tuning:

Just look around for stuff, a good local speed shop should have some stuff for you too.
