clutch help

i recently blew (i think) my exedy stage 1 clutch on my sr20det 5speed. the clutch had a little over 1,000mi on it. any suggestions or ideas of what went wrong or what the problem is would be helpful. heres what happened. my sr + my cocktail of aftermarkets is generating 275hp at the wheels. im thinking maybe the engine ripped it up. i was running it hard going from 4th to 5th. but accidentally went to 3rd (oops), there were no clanking or grinding noises the throttle just stopped supplying the car with power. it was exactly like going into neutral. i coasted to a stop and had to have it towed home.

symtoms: with the car off. withOUT the clutch engaged you can put it in any gear. the shifter jiggles around into any gear with ease. no resistance.
-you still have to put the clutch in to start the car of course, but it can be put into any gear, even reverse without moving.
- i got under the car and stuck my hand atop the trans to feel the linkage. it feels like its engaging with no probloms.
- myself and a few friends think its the pressure plate. but who knows.
-any help or ideas i would appreciate before i go haggle with a trans shop.

Dont be hurry to believe that is the clutch.
Check the gearbox. Does it go with other gears that 3rd?
If it does, then you have cracked 3rd.
If it doesnt, you burned or broke the clutch disk or the clutch cover. The flywheel is probably ok

I did a similar thing in my S13 with a Spec Stage 2 clutch. When I pulled it out, the straps that hold the actual pressure plate to the clucth cover were broken. I called Spec and they sent me a new one for free, however they explained to me that alot of time when you miss a gear, or use your clutch as a break pedal, those straps tend to break. This is a safety measure to keep other more expensive things from braking. Well, I hope that was helpful, and goodluck!
