Can anyone direct me to exactly where the O2 sensor is on the 2000 Focus with a 2.0? Chilton makes no mention of it.

There are two O2 sensors. One before the catalytic converter and one after. The one before is heated.
For a better view, try removing the four bolts holding on the heat shield to the exhaust manifold.
Hope this helps :bigthumb:

That heat shield is a bitch to get out. Just removing the four bolts isn't enough. You have to move several pipes and tubes, not to mention the game of cubix cube it takes to manuever that thing out.
Just a heads up on the O2 sensor. My engine light came on for the thousandth time, but this time it stayed on. An $80 diagnostic check at the dealer told me it was the O2 sensor. I was told it was the first one (before the catalytic converter). I had some hook ups and got the part from someone else. Just out of stupidity I replaced it thinking it was the first O2 sensor (it was great, it took 5 minutes). Well, that engine light never went off. I did some more pooking around and found I had replaced the wrong one. While I was pain stakingly trying to remove the first and "correct" O2 sensor I noticed something not right. Right where the first O2 sensor connects to the exhaust there is a pipe on the opposite side of where the O2 sensor connects. I'm not sure what the pipe is or what it does (some type of air return), but it was completely disconnected. I found it very odd it was undone and reconnected it. I put everything back together and the next morning the light went off and has stayed off for two weeks now.
I highly doubt my O2 sensor needed to be replaced. Those jack's at the dealer just hooked up their computer and guessed what the problem was. I spent $80 for a diagnoctic check that wasn't even right.
