twin turbo on a d16?

i got a d16y8 on my 99 civic ex and was going to drop a t3 turbo on it but found out it was a turbo from a diesel engine and a mechanic told me that a diesel turbo would blow my head, i dont know if thats tru if it is get back to me. So i got a t25 turbo of my friend for free, but dont think it will satisfy my need for speed(and dont tell me to get a b16,b18, and it will satisfy my need for speed because i will drive this engine till it dies). So i was thinking of droping another t25 turbo. What do you guys think. will it work or will it blow my engine. The reason i want to use a t25 turbo because it gets full boost at 3000rpm and is a small turbo thats why i want to drop 2 of them. i really wanted to use a t3 but the t25 came free so why not use it. twin turbo on civic never heard of it but might try it. JUST AN IDEA FOR YOU TO THINK ABOUT. Anybody know what a d16y8 with a t25 turbo would run in 1/4 mile.

good luck trying to get a twin turbo setup. if u have a lot of money and time to waste, then go right ahead.

on an ex motor with proper internals you can easily hit 250 hp with that turbo, and I believe I have seen a few people pushing over 300 with one. As far as fitting two of those turbos have fun. There isnt much space to even fit one turbo in there. If you wanted to do a twin turbo setup you would probably have to sacrafice your a/c and possibly the power steering. Im not saying it cant be done but dont expect it to be easy or cheap.

It would aslo not serve any use on a inline motor dont bother with it.

I agree with the gang, It is def. possable to make a really sick d16 monster motor !! but as far as a twin set up ?? it is possable with alot of $$ and fabrication. Not to mention the lag issues of a twin turbo addition to a 4cyl. i would just stick the book and build her inside nice and right and throw a nice hybrid ie: td04 or somethin of that nature..altho a bigger turbo is always sicker, just make sure you keep her balanced for the power..

get a turbo off a newer volvo...I think the model # is a 740 or a 9 something. this will be equipted with a nice t3. also a t25 should put out enough power if it is set up right.

Yes a twin turbo civic is just plain stupid. It had been done though, a guy on homemadeturbo did a tt setup on his d16. It was just mostly a show thing though.

What are you talking about when you say it wouldn't serve any purpose on an inline motor? Ever heard of a TT Supra or a TT Skyline? Those are inline motors too.

yeah but motors like the supra and rx7 have SEQUENTIAL TURBOS. so one is smaller to spool up quickly and there is a bigger one to give it higher rpm boost. so putting 2 of the same size wouldn't be the same as the SEQUENTIALS on a supra and rx7

Well no shit, that goes without saying. Thats why the majority of people with supras or skylines will just go the singe turbo conversion route.

Now the idea of a d16 spooling two turbos of the same size (unless both are tiny) is just plain ridiculous. Sure you could do a sequential setup, but then again it makes more sense to wipe you ass with $100 dollar bills.

Go single....

a mechanic told me that a diesel turbo would blow my head,
HAHAHAHAHA, I had a mechanic point at the intake manifold and call it a turbo one time, funny guy, loser mechanic.

T3/T4 hybrid is good enough, twins is silly , and as Maxspeed said you'd do just as good to wipe your ass with 100 $ bills

I agree your engine is better suited for a single turbo. Not only will you waste your time and money, but also you will waste some of the engines potential.

yea, i saw that civic, it was crazy. wasn't that gut in the caymans?

most twin turbo setups lose a couple efficiency points to a good single turbo setup, unless your going for the sheer shock factor then single is the way to go
