Rap sucks, Hip Hop rules.

The only 2 guys that really can rap that I can think off the top of my head are:

Immortal Technique and Big L

Everything else is commercialized pop!

BTW, Immortal Technique's "Revolutionary 2" best CD of the last few years!

I'd have to agree with that. The crap they try to spoon feed you on MTV is pathetic.
I've only heard of Immortal Technique by name, but if he's as good as Del the Funkee or Chief Xcel, it's worth checking out.

agh...good but overrated

"ask Beavis, I get nothin' Butt-Head"
- Big L

"If you go platinum, it's got nothing to do with luck, it just means that a million people are stupid as f---"
Immortal Technique referring to this MTV BS

Get the freestyle with Jay Z and Big L from 1995 - when noone even knew about Jay Z. I must admit I really hate him. Big L raped him on that freestyle.

Basically, Immortal Techniques talks about real life that the radio won't play. He tells everything just like it is, things you won't hear on CNN or NBC who get paid to tell people what they wanna hear.

Here's my fav. quotes from his cd, which you can get for only 9.99!!! at Amazon!

"I doubt that there could ever be...a more wicked MC
'Cuz AIDs infested child molesters aren't sicker than me
I see the world for what it is, beyond the white and the black
The way the government downplays historical facts
'Cuz the United States sponsored the rise of the 3rd Reich
Just like the CIA trained terrorists to the fight
Build bombs and sneak box cutters onto a flight
When I was a child, the Devil himself bought me a mic
But I refused the offer, 'cuz God sent me to strike
With skills unused like fallopian tubes on a dyke
My words'll expose George Bush and Bin Laden
As two separate parts of the same seven headed dragon
And you can't fathom the truth, so you don't hear me
You think illuminati's just a fuckin conspiracy theory?
That's why Conservative racists are all runnin' shit
And your phone is tapped by the Federal Government"

"They bombed innocent people, tryin' to murder Saddam
When you gave him those chemical weapons to go to war with Iran
This is the information that they hold back from Peter Jennings
Cause Condoleeza Rice is just a new age Sally Hemmings
I break it down with critical language and spiritual anguish
The Judas I hang with, the guilt of betraying Christ
You murdered and stole his religion, and painting him white
Translated in psychologically tainted philosophy
Conservative political right wing, ideology
Glued together sloppily, the blasphemy of a nation
Got my back to the wall, cause I'm facin' assassination
Guantanamo Bay, federal incarceration
How could this be, the land of the free, home of the brave?
Indigenous holocaust, and the home of the slaves
Corporate America, dancin' offbeat to the rhythm
You really think this country, never sponsored terrorism?
Human rights violations, we continue the saga
El Savador and the contras in Nicaragua
And on top of that, you still wanna take me to prison
Just cause I won't trade humanity for patriotism"

"And just so Conservatives don't take it to heart
I don't think Bush did it, 'cuz he isn't that smart
He's just a stupid puppet taking orders on his cell phone
From the same people that sabotaged Senator Wellstone
The military industry got it poppin' and lockin'
Looking for a way to justify the Wolfowitz Doctrine
And as a matter of fact, Rumsfeld, now that I think back
Without 9/11, you couldn't have a war in Iraq
Or a Defense budget of world conquest proportions
Kill freedom of speech and revoke the right to abortions
Tax cut extortion, a blessing to the wealthy and wicked
But you still have to answer to the Armageddon you scripted
And Dick Cheney, you fuckin leech, tell them your plans
About building your pipelines through Afghanistan
And how Israeli troops trained the Taliban in Pakistan
You might have some house niggaz fooled, but I understand
Colonialism is sponsored by corporations
That's why Halliburton gets paid to rebuild nations
Tell me the truth, I don't scare into paralysis
I know the CIA saw Bin Laden on dialysis
In '98 when he was Top Ten for the FBI
Government ties is really why the Government lies
Read it yourself instead of asking the Government why
'Cuz then the Cause of Death will cause the propaganda to die.."

Just listening through this CD once makes you not wanna watch CNN again. Oh yeah, this one is good too.

The fourth branch of the government AKA the media
Seems to now have a retirement plan for ex-military officials
As if their opinion was at all unbiased
A machine shouldn't speak for men
So shut the fuck up you mindless drone!
And you know it's serious
When these same media outfits are spending millions of dollars on a PR campaign
To try to convince you they're fair and balanced
When they're some of the most ignorant, and racist people
Giving that type of mentality a safe haven
We act like we share in the spoils of war that they do
We die in wars, we don't get the contracts to make money off 'em afterwards!
We don't get weapons contracts!
We don't get cheap labor for our companies!
We are cheap labor!
Turn off the news and read!

and if anyone watches the news, you know what's one of the top stories.

This CD came out last year, I think in September

"This is the information that they hold back from Peter Jennings
Cause Condoleeza Rice is just a new age Sally Hemmings"

I also prefer Hip Hop to rap, I like some mainstream rap, but my favourite artist has to be Aesop Rock :D

No kidding. Sit down a relax for a bit.

What do you mean Big L raped Jay-Z on the freestyle. They weren't battling. And why do you HATE Jay-Z? Hates a strong word and I'd like to know why.

One more thing....Lil' Flip is the best freestyler.

damir831
04-02-2004, 11:26 PM
Yes, not battling, but listen to it and just look at Jay Z's rhymes. He got his whole style from Big L. If Big L was still alive, he'd have Jay's spot. Even though they were friends when they were underground, does he ever mention him in any of his rhymes? Queen of New York. Excuse me miss! What a beautiful and deep song, just like a kiddie pool. Yes, lil flip is the best freestyler

Have you ever heard of Copywrite?

Critically acclaimed, clinically insane
And if you ain't see how I spit it then I must've did it in the rain
How rookies want respect? Best decline in fear
You got pussy on your neck wet behind the ears

Have you ever heard of Chino XL?

Your decision that testin my expertism in combat,
I'll expose that your not real like the "Blair Witch Project"
As far as that album you dropped, I ain't feelin it
I wouldn't buy your record if it had a hundred dollar bill in it

J-Live?
Wordsworth?
Punchline?
Common?
Juice?
Atmosphere?

I was told by the council, to lead the new millinium
One ounce'll have your skin chippin' like a pentium
4 processor, nobody floss fresher
my style very day to day like a cross dresser
Juice at the club, your ho I macked her
She forgot she had a man until the morning after
Bones and vocal cords get torn and fractured
She said comparin' us was like before and after

I wasn't talking about MTV freestyles, I was talking about real ones that you'd hear in underground clubs. There's places all over the net that you can download them from.

I agree, if BIg l hadn't died we'd have flamboyant entertainment not the roc.
i'd say i hate jay z too. beat stealin, rhyme robbin bum.
shit i've heard Redman give more respect to BIG L in his songs than jay-z and BIG l put jay on pretty much. it pissed me off cuz i watched a documentary on jay z and they didn't mention big l once.

damir, ever heard of DITC(diggin in the crates) or Children of the corn?
they're the groups Big L was in before he created flamboyant records. Cildren of the corn's "American dream" is one of the the best songs ever.

however, there are a lot of other rappers that can be considered the same class as big l though. to say that big l and immortal technique are the only people who can rap is a bold statement. Big L died halfway through his second cd so you can't really tell, he coulda turned out just like jigga. it wasn't until the cd after reasonable doubt that i started hatin jay z. when all he talked about was how much money he had i got turned off. and immortal techniqe is mediocre at best, he sounds just like remedy from wu-tang.

AZ, Nature, X1, Sticky Fingaz, Fredro Starr, Rakim, Eminem are all rappers i believe to be in the same class as big L. but NO ONE can hold a flame to tupac, big l is a very very close second. forget the mtv bullshit you see about 2pac, those were just radio hits, if you haven't heard all 6 of the unreleased makaveli's(the seventh album is a fraud), then you just don't know.

Glad to hear that there's someone on this board who knows something about hip hop.

Have you evern heard of 7L & Esoteric, Non-Phixion or Jedi Mind Tricks?

I have 5 Tupac albums, I didn't say he's not good, just overrated.

There's at least 5 other albums that I like better than the best tupac one.

Common - Resurrection
Nas - Illmatic
J-Live - All of the Above
Blackalicious - Blazing Arrow
Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek - Train of Thought

Have you ever heard the song "Dance with the Devil" by Immortal? If not, you gotta get that.

Album by album, i could defintely pick certain albums better than tupacs, but as far as overall skill he's just my favorite, him and the outlawz. kadafi was one nasty rapper. and talib kweli is nice, mos def's nice, of course nas(anyone from the Firm)

i like the "underground railroad freestyle" the best by immortal. although i haven't heard many of his songs.
