Hi all,
I wanted to fit a de-Cat pipe, but when taking the car in to have this done, The mechanic told me he couldn't do it because it has a heat sensor strap attached!!!. Does anyone know what this is, and if it can be cut.

Go to another exhaust place, it's simple as, don't cut the wires but just remove the sensor from the cat, dead easy, and get the exhaust guy to tack it on to the side of the new pipe. It's there to light up the light on the dash to tell you the cat is overheating, the reason for not cutting the wires is it may alter the ignition timing when the overheat light comes on, not 100% sure, and normally if you cut the wires it defaults to the light being on all the time.

Dak,
Thanks for that, The de-cat pipe is a replacement for the cat, but doesn't have anywhere to connect the strap, does it just have to be attached to it(like welded)?

Yup, just tacked to it, it doesn't specifically have to be attached to the exhaust, I just did mine that way to keep it from dangling around under the car, you can cable tie it or what ever to anything under the car just so it doesn't drag on the ground.

The sensor in the cat is not the Lambda sensor, it's only a heat sensor to tell you if the cat is blocked and overheating.
