Check engine light

I have a 00 Maxima with 56k. I use premium gas. My check engine light came on about 2-months ago. The car runs fine even with the light on. I ran a tank of regular gas just for shits and Giggles. The light went off less than half way through that regular tank and the car still runs fine.
I switched back to premium and less than a quarter tank in the light came back on, the car still runs good but that light is annoying.
My question, does anyone know why this is happening? Is a sensor shot and the premium gas throughs it off because it burns hotter or longer?
This is annoying and I would love to run a check myself but can't find the screw thing on my car. Does anyone know where it is?

Never put regular gas in your car. The manual says 91 Octane or higher. If the problem pursists take it to autozone. They check the diagnostic codes for free.

Pull the code yourself:
http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecu.html
Is this valid for the 2000 Maxima or is it located somewhere else?
