Yeah, I've learned to deal with the Element and Aztek, the Smart car shouldn't be too hard as long we don't have to work on them in Mercedes dealerships. :sly: Am still working on accepting the H2 on the roads, will probably never stop annoying me though.

The only problem with Smarts is U.S. drivers will be giving them fart cannons and three-tiered wings.

Well, if you can have a friend to have a smart with you(2 smarts together), then you can save some parking fee.

that would be different. think about, smart ricers, it would be an oxymoron cuz they really arent smart :screwy:

Boss San
04-05-2004, 05:46 PM
You don't have to be smart, to drive one.
What a slogan, I'd think the ricer people would like it then. Ha ha ha!
With all the giant stupid suv's in the U.S. I would actually welcome Smart's cars. Come on, the H2 is far more useless that a Smart.
They may be grotesque and gutless, but at least they make good commuter cars. That is all they are intended for after all, intercity driving at slow to medium city speeds.
I really wonder why a company like Brabus would initialize a version of one of those? Oh well. Someone obviously bought the thing so I guess that answered my own question.

Whats the big deal about these things, they look kinda cool.... lightweight.... bet you could find a way to do a engine swap and make the thing fast as hell

YukiHime
04-06-2004, 11:13 PM
Oh, there is one more thing that is good about Smart. That is if you are living in a downtown, it will help you to save a few steps for walking around to get grocery.

Slicano
04-08-2004, 09:11 AM
Actually I wasn't saying that the Smart is useless, but that a Brabus Smart at more than 25000$ was a total waste of money.
Smart cars are quite usefull in cities like Paris, Roma or London where parking is like a war game...

Let 'em spend their money they earned it legit (hopefully) and they can make their car different from the rest of the pack (many car companies do it). It keeps the economy runnin' too.

I think I saw a brabus smart in London yesterday, but I'm not sure. The rear looked wider, and i think i saw somekind of badge where the brabus thing should be...it sounded different too

Looks are an aquired taste, the Smart ForTwo looks great in my opinion.

However the Brabus one is ridiculous. get me a Smart Roadster, a Suzuki Hayabusa engine and a snail and I'll make one better than Brabus on the cheap.

Mercedes is behind the current smart, it was a concept developed by the Swatch company (yes as in watches) they couldn't bring it to production so mercedes backed them, now merceded is building Smart dealerships in canada and will be bringing them into the U.S. in the next few months.

I welcome the Smart car, it is a brilliant sulution for major european cities, like paris and rome it follows in the footsteps of the Deux Chevaux and the bmw isseta. And in the U.S. it will be a welcome change from the H2's and the endless number of retro futuristic-revamped throwback-updated classic unoriginal crap that we have been living with for the past 6 years.

It is Called the smart car because from an econimical and ecological stand point it is the right answer.

But that was for europe, the impoting will raise the price to a retarded level making it less economical, and obviously in the U.S. we rarely give a shit about the environment when it comes to our automibiles, but some will buy them and it will be nice to see them on the road, it'll make me smile to see them amidst escalades, h2s aand expeditions.

Looks like somebody re-invented the old Cushman 3 wheeled truck. Industrial plants used to use them to haul stuff inside the plant premises.

I wonder how these things would be for someone who isnt a city commuter, say, someone who drives 30-45 miles highway to get to work. would they be practicle for that.... what about using them for a long distance trip..... say, cincinnati to ft. myers florida, straight shot down I-75....

Hey Hey Hey,Don't touch the Piaggio Ape!!!
Here in italy is a Very common use of teenagers that don't want to get wet to buy an ape and not a scooter.
Also Valentino Rossi got one, when he was 19 he reached the misano circuit with his ape and won the 125cc moto gp championship...
then he went home with his big cup on the back of the Ape...

What about your american sedans with big bolck-low hp engines and rubber suspension with bmx's wheels and wood tires lol, arent them useless???
;-)

i am joking of course...

or how about a Smart Crossblade for 31000 US$?! What is that you ask? Some kind of really powerfull top-of-the-line version of the Smart? No. Just a Smart with no roof and doors :screwy:

(can't you get a Mustang for that kind of money over in the US?)

freakonaleash1187

Ummmm ok....................... I'm still thinking!
Seriously, if you insert the price into the equation (10-20000 euro in Europe depending on country and equipment levels) it doesn't look all that smart. And as for the Crossblade now that thing should be called the Dumb Crossblade..

What if you crash at highway speed in one of those? Squash, splat, squish. They'll be pulling you out of that car in little pieces. What if you get hit by an 18-wheeler?

i have a golf cart, 2 cylinder like 50 HP, gets amazing gas milage. Its got 4 wheeler knobby tires on it. Top speed is about 25 MPH if you adjust the throttle limiter so that it can run open throttle. but then it starts to overheat and gets so hot that even when you take your foot of the gas, it stills putters. We put a cooling fan on it but its not helping a whole lot. But its still fun to drive around in the woods and streets.

They actually have a solid 4 (? - possibly 3) star NCAP rating, they are extremely safe cars, much like the little Merc A Class, it looks tiny, but safety is amongst the best in small cars...
