What a pain in the a$$. I would rather pay for them than try that again. Anyway, I ended up cracking parts on both of them. I took my time, but I guess the platic just gets brittle after sitting in the sun for a few years. Deffinetly looks better though. Now I just need to find some orange 1156 bulbs. I have a whole sheet of the plastic to make the inserts if anyone else in So Cal wants to give it a try. Matt :D

Hey Bobo, You have to use a heat gun, and heat around the edges of the housing. there is glue, kinda like the glue from a heat gun, that they put in there, and it is a pain in the a$$ to get off. just be VERY careful, if it won't budge, use a little more heat. MY heat gun shut itself off a few time, because it's cheap and got too hot. I'll make you a deal, you find the guy at Nissan who glue's them suckers, and we'll go find him :D

:D I also just cleared the amber out of my rear lenses. It is a pain in the a$$, but I didn't have trouble getting the lens to come away from the housing. The two things that gave me trouble were cutting a replacement piece of flourescent light covering, and getting it to stay in place of the amber piece.

;) What worked for me was heating the blade of a sheetrock knife and that cut through the plastic like a charm, a little sanding and it looked fine. Then I just took a regular glue gun and put beads of glue on the four corners of the replacement piece and closed everything back up. Really looks amazing! I highly recommend this for anyone with an afternoon to spare, and the right tools! For directions go under the How2 section on MaximaDriver.com.

Good Luck!

yeah dude, i tried to help my friend make clear inserts for his 99 tailights and it sucked. we couldn't get the clear piece to stay in place, so we just gave up and put it all together. it took a while to get that black goop off my hands.

:flash: Don't give up, stay with it! The key is taking your time and not losing your temper. I almost lost my $hit and threw my lens across the garage, but I took a break and finished okay. Take your time and never give up! Try again!

Good luck!

i am glad to hear that you went for it again. maximum brian, my plastic separated from the outside edge where it kind of has to make a slight curve. the piece of plastic i cut though was long enough to just butt up against the inside of the lens so it doesn't look bad. as long as it still looks good, i'm not going back in and opening them up again. bobo, well done, patience and the amber is gone!
