I have a 1986 b2000 and can't figure out what is causing a 15 amp fuse to blow that powers the Tach, fuel guage, temp gauge, and blinkers. I have replaced it with a larger size a few times and it will hold for a day or so and then blow again. I have been banging my head on the wall over this one. The short doesn't persent itself all the time I've gone as long as 2 or 3 days with a fuse in before it blows.
Any one have any ideas????

Well I still had not figured it out before we sold truck. I was thinking the problem was either in the turn signal switch on the steering column or the reverse light switch on the tranny. Oh well good luck to you on it. I installed a 30 amp fuse before selling truck and haven't heard anything back from the buyer yet and that was since a week after my first post.

I also have a 86 mazda b2000 truck that I have just taken possession of. My problem is the same only i have the tach and temp working,no interior lights or dash clock lights, i replaced a blown 15amp fuse and it started smoking behind the fuse box and also above on the interior light/mirror, further investigation by pulling the fuse box out revealed that one blue and red wire on the 15amp fuse had melted the plastic from the wire and ruined the fuse holder , also i found that the same colored wire going to the interior light was also in the same condition totally void of plastic coating, hence the smoking. I dont have a manual at the moment but i guess im gonna need one so if anyone can shed some light on this problem , myself and i assume a few others will be more than grateful.
