93 s10 blazer window motor question

okay, driver's door window no go. i had a sluggish/intermittent one in my 93 jimmy.

is this a common problem?

fuse? something else?

and since i have a jimmy with three WORKING windows, can i use one of those motors? or did chevy actually put different windows in different doors (how stupid would THAT be?)?

thanks in advance

The window motor more than likely needs wo be replaced. Since that is the case, you won't want to pull one from another window, because it will be too much of a hassle. The motors are riveted in place.

well, since the donor window is gonna be junked, i'm not afraid to do some damage getting the motor out (can you say drill and sawz-all?). and obviously i have to take the broken one out anyway. what better way to practice then on my parts truck...

thanks for the heads-up, though. nice to know what i'm in for before i take the panels off....

i finally got around to this project...

what a hassle. the rivets are a mother to get off...

after taking out the regulator form my donor AND from my broken one, i learned that a cold chisel is the best bet getting them off...

anywho, the brushes were all nasty... so i cleaned it out and put brushes in from my other motor...

voila'

i don't actually know how you replace the motor casing. it seems to be a one pice thingy with the worm gear drive system... adn all that jazz is riveted to the regulator...

and it is 'side specific' driver's side different from passnegers'...

i guess when you bug a replacement motor they just give you the guts... new brushes and endcap and the part with the windings on it... (forget what you call that thing...)

anyway, no one will care about this post, but i thought i'd stick it up for 'the greater good'... the window motors on these seem to be a chronic issue....

When I bought my power window motor from Autozone, it was an entire unit, casing and all. The only thing it didn't come with were new rivets.

wow.

that's really interesting. before i opened this thing up i checked and the part number for the motor seemed to be the same regardless of which window. i wanted to take the motor out of the passenger side of my other truck and i didn't want to duplicate effort. but the casing is definitely side-specific....

i may have made a mistake...

whatever.

all i know is that i now know how to 'rebuild' one. and mine works better than any of the (seven counting my donor truck) windows i've used. fast, powerful. almost makes me worried it's gonna blow itself up...

well, the regulator is BOLTED in now, so i can get it out easy next time...

thanks for being teh only person paying attention to my plight... :)

I must have got lucky. My window, drivers side got stuck down. Push up on button nothing. Finally just got mad and hit the center of the door and bam it worked. Thinking loose connection for mine.
