I just got a flowmaster on my 89 1500 and it sounds awesome. The guy at American Muffler did excellent work for a good price. And it looks hella clean. Im gonna get some pictures posted soon.

So which one did you get? 40 series ,50 series. I just asked the question in one of the earlier posts about how loud the 40's are. I'm going to put one on my 90 Silverado, but don't know which one to get.

The 40's are pretty loud. Especially without converters. THey have alot of in-cab resonance which means you can hear the muffler inside the can pretty well. I have 1 with dual outlets on my 99 and it has an agressive sound with the converters on.. I wouldnt want it on my truck without the converters.

nobde, it depends on how loud you want your truck to be. If you want it to be aggressive on the outside, and have a lot of cab noise, then I suggest the 40 series. I've never heard the 50 series, but I have the 70 series on my truck (92 Silverado, 350) and I love them. They have a low rumble on the outside and virtually no cab noise.
Whichever series you get, be sure and keep your converter, becuase they get LOUD without that and plus they slap.

I got the 40 series. It's not too loud. it has a deep rumble sound. i have a 350 and it sounds hella mean now. It's not obnoxiously loud though. i heard that they get louder the more u use them when theyre new. and with my windows up all i can hear is a faint deep sound when im on the throttle. I suggest getting the 40 cuz it sounds frikin awesome.

Well I guess as far as the Flowmaster goes the 40's win. That's what I'll go for. I think it was that "Sounds frikin awesome" statement that won me over. Now I just need to make up my mind on the 4" or 6" BDS lift. That's starting to get closer to the 6" already.

Next Tuesday it's going to happen. 6" BDS suspension lift install along with a 40 series Flowmaster with duels. I'm already thinking how skinny those 275's are going to look with the 6"lift. I suppose that will have to be next. Ya know this can get pretty expensive.
Anybody know how big a tire I can put on these GM rims? They are H5144 polished aluminum wheels and the description says they are 16x7. With the lift I am getting, I should be able to fit at least 35's, but will they fit on these rims?

with the six 35's will work but most likely not on those wheels. for 35x12.50's you need an 8 or maybe 10 inch wheel. I have seen posts about problems with vibration on wheels bigger than 8 inches wide so make sure you check it out before you go with bigger wheels. check out this link.http://www.ntwonline.com/template.cfm?ID=7#fffff
