As Some of you may know I'm looking for a new car and I have around $10,000 to spend. I just changed insurance companies (Met Life was screwing me over big time!) anyway I just put liability only on my car, and for this company reliability is liability; you could buy a geo metro and a dodge viper and put liability on both and pay the same amount for each for liability insurence! GOD, I LOVE AMERICA! :ylsuper:

Anyway like I said I have around 10 grand and I don't know what to buy; I'm kinda thinking 1998-2000 Camaro/Firebird
But I don't know- I can buy any thing- a 1972 Corvette Stingray, put liability on it and pay hardly nothign! :smokin:
I would prefer a newer car (1997 or newer?), but who can say not to a Vette or early Mustang? :naughty:

Anyway I also thought about a 3000GT but I guess they arn't all that fast unless you get the DOHC motors, other than the SOCH.

Like I said I don't know what I want: car, truck, suv - I kinda like the newer jeep wranglers.

P.S. I live in Iowa so there Isn't all that much here :banghead:

P.S.S. If gas hits 2 bucks a gallon, a '72 Stingray with a big block V8 is going to kill me on gas. Just think about that before you say a badass muscle car- although that would kick ass!

Um, just to clarify on a few points, Obviosly I am biased (I have a 3000gt vr4). Thats a twin turbo 3.0liter 320hp DOHC motor. It runs 13.5 in the quarter. the SOHC 161hp motors were only used in the 97-99 base model 3000gts. With the middle model, the SL, they had the 222hp DOHC motors that the 91-96 base models had.
And yes, with the vr4, I have to use 91+ octane, so gas is already over 2.00 a gallon here(NY). So it hurts just as bad as a v8.

That aside, are you looking for a car to drive daily, race, do you want it really fast, or just moderatly fast? Are you going for looks or performance?

That's pretty sweet to have that much freedom with the insurance company, mine (progressive) rapes me. With freedom like that, I would go all out on whatever you really always wanted, providing you can get it for your price range.

Get a Civic or a Corolla...great gas savers.

I would say go with the 3000gt vr4. Nothing like mid-high 13 second car stock. You could get a pretty cheap one and still have money left over.

That or you could get a newer (98-99) eclipse gst gsx, they respond very well to mods, if you're looking for speed.

personally, i would get a 300zx tt. it is a little bit slower than the vr-4 (.5 seconds in 1/4 mile) but imo, it has a lot more style. plus, also imo, i much rather have a nissan than a mitsubishi.

Im in new york too. How much do you pay for insurance on a vr4? Which company?

Well Mumm you definitley sound like a Camaro guy. A 1998-2000 Z28 or SS would be perfect for you. You can find a nice one with fairly low miles for 10k. The LS1 V8 in them are underrated from the factory at about 310-325 but they actually put out more like 330-340. They run low 13's with a 6 speed and get great gas mileage if you want to...18 city and 27 highway.
