Best Digital camcorder to get?

Ok, me and my girlfriend plan on going to Virginia this summer and Florida, and we want to invest in a digital camcorder, I am not familer with any of them but we are looking to pay about 450 dollars for one, does anyone know what a good brand and model to get?? thanx
