does anyone know wat the yellow (memory) wire is for when installng a cd player? the wire that runs from the deck through the harness and into the car...anyone know the purpose of the wire? and y it needs to run to the car for? well, really what I have a problem is that my sub doesnt work b/c my friend accidentally put the subs wire, + + instead of + - for a while.... i checked power, ground, remote, sub, and it all works! i even switched out amps...and i switched deck JVC kameleon with my cousin(we just unplugged the decks harness) and still doesnt work!!!! im getting very aggravated!! if anyone can help, please do!! thanks

well the yellow wire is essential for the memory backup. without that wire hooked up, some cd/tape players will not even work. but that wire controls the momory, so that when you shut off your car and turn it back on again, it remembers the time, preset stations, bass, treble, etc.
why your subs/amps/what-not are not working is beyond me. i would have to take a look at it myself. ;)

hope that helped

yeah, I disconnected that wire, and it wouldnt even work, well, do you know of any way to clear the memory? b/c I took my car to the shop, and tested out everything, and every thing works.....and i get power, ground, and remote, and even switched to new RCA's....they said it was my deck, but it's not, b/c I switched decks with my cousin (who also has a system) and his works fine...when we switched decks we unplugged an kept the deck's harness's there,b/c we have the same decks.. thanks.

maybe he has a security code on it that you have to punch in before it'll work. If not, I think there should be a reset button behind the headunit, at least I tihnk mine does.

the only other thing i can think of without being there myself is a fuse in the back of the deck or alot of decks have the reset switch on the front panel under the removeable face. did you check your amp fuse in the engine bay? maybe you blew that fuse after the amp was connected ++?
hope that helps

all fuse's are good (amp/deck/power wire), i have the JVC kameleon, so dere reallie isnt a face plate, and i dont see any reset, it gets me more and more aggravated everytime i come up with an idea to fix it,and it doesnt work when i try...but danx alot for your time

I actually read somewhere else where a guy had a problem with a Kamelion. like the wires were different on the harness.

reallie?well man, im really mad az hell right now...just found the reset button n decided to see if that was the problem...nope..still don't work...ahhhhhhhh....driving me krazyyyyy...so replacing the head unit might solve all problems? well did you know what the problem was with kameleons? thanx

I think it was that the harness didn't have a yellow wire, or it was something that the headunit harness didn't even match up wire to wire with the stock harness.
