Celica GT vs. RSX

This is referring to the standard base model cars, in manual transmission. I think the numbers show that the RSX has an advantage (much in the way of the upper scale Type-S--larger displacement). But anyone ever drive both of them? Which will end up on top?

My exgirlfriend has a 01 GT, and it's comparable to my friends 94 Integra ls as far as speed goes, i have never driven an RSX base, but i'd say it would come out on top

Sorry, when you say "it" which are you referring to, the Celica or the RSX?

I think the Celica is a sharper looking car, but I wouldn't own either.

the rsx looks like a damn minivan or something. i thinks it's kinda ugly looking

both cars on the extreme ends of the spectrum in the looks department, where one is oversimplified and boring (yawn), the other is overly radical and looks like it came out of a star trek movie. i do like the rsx's interior though to that of the celica.

I strongly believe the RSX is a more refined little cute sport compact. The Celica has a more agressive image for those who wants it. Iīll go with tht RSX but the Celica is good too (the previous Celica was so ugly)

the last celica was cool! with the lil bug eyes......i hated the bumper though.......

i dunno, whenever i see the white RSX i wanna paint it yellow, give it black stripes, a lil tail, and make it a pikachu, sorry, thats just what i see :smoker2:

i think the new celica is a lil bit ugh as far as look

i all around choose the rsx, interior, exterior, and performance

Thatīs my point, the RSX is too cute, toy like, but thatīs interesting for some kind of buyers.
And about the previous Celica, the headlamps are ok, work better than in the Taurus, what I ment was the side panels didnīt look as a whole piece. Anywise is kind of nice re-think of it.
Toyota managed to come up with a few annoying ones. When you put the Celica GTS into reverse, it emits an awful beeping noise that makes you feel more like you were in a garbage truck backing up instead of in a sports car.

yeah, the side panels made it look a lil anorexic or somethin, and really, whos NOT gonna know theyre in reverse?!?!?! lol

Are you kidding? They are virtually identical! Both have the sport bucket seats with slight shoulder support and fixed whiplash guard, both have the 'bottom-dead-center' instrument gauges, both have the circle-pod a/c vents, both have the neo-generic 3-spoke sport steering wheel... the list goes on and on.

Uhhh, you are highly mistaken. You must have seen a GT-S do that ONLY because the owner of the car installed the backup-beeper him/herself (you can even buy them at Pep Boys and other places). There is no OEM feature from Toyota which does this. Anyways, let us refrain from leaving topic; there is a separate thread for the GT-S and Type-S--this one is specifically for the base models.

both have speedometers too. the overall fit and finish of the rsx IMO is top notch. not that the celica's is bad but i think the acura has the edge here. also, materials feel more upscale in the rsx. it just feels like you're in a more expensive car with the rsx as opposed to the celica. but maybe that's just a psychological thing since the badge says acura, and not honda. maybe if the celica had a lexus badge and not a toyota, maybe it'd be the other way around. but i doubt it.

Click my Toyota icon and check every stat page for the Celica GT-S. You won't find anything about it there. They would have put that in the Comparisons part of their site against the RSX, but there's nothing. But just to be sure, I am going to take a trip to the dealership soon to try it in a GT-S.

Have you calculated the hp/lbs and torque/lbs for both fully loaded base RSX and Celica GT? That should help give you a much better idea who is on top. Celica have virtually no rear space. Reminds me of my experience sitting in the rear seats of a Supra. At least a 6 feet person can get by sitting in the rear of RSX.

I don't know about you, but I never let people sit in my 2+2 anytime anyways. I doubt larger rear seats make a huge selling point for enthusiasts willing to modify their cars, in any case.

You know, I just thought of this and had to add this. Concerning the upscale models of these cars, no RSX lovers are willing to point out that the jump in power from the GSR came almost directly from the upped displacement to 2.0 liters. I know many Honda owners love to brag that their 1.6 or 1.8 can easily take on the beastier domestics with types of technology like VTEC, but it seems like they are keeping quiet about the growth in engine size for both Civics and Integra/RSXs.

Those 2 rear seats are suppose to be emergency use anyways.

With Honda you will always find people talking about hp/L. You can pump out 400 hp out of B16C and B18C all motors. However it requires a lot of money. I am talking about port and polished plus a ton of work that's involve.
