My painted Valve cover....

this is my Valve cover that I painted. I worked on it over a period of 3 days...sanding priming and sanding some more to make sure it was nice and smooth.

As for working on it for 3 days I was waiting for my new clutch and my ride was sitting for a week so I made use of the time....:D

what kind of paint did you use? and where did you get all those yellow hoses. i want to paint my valve cover glossy white and resleeve most of my hoses with white.

also... i have an aem cai thats gray. i was thinking to myself while taking a shit earlier that it would look cool to paint it glossy white too and outline the white AEM sticker with a black sharpie marker! possible? or would the paint crack from too hot or too cold?

you can tell you took your time, it is extremely smoothe :)

WEll I did a base coat of Yellow heat resistant paint then after that I applied about 3-4 coats of Yellow krylon.

The yellow hoses that you see are one of the Yakimara-sp hose kits. I actualy used those to replace the stock black hoses. Most peopel just cut the colored hoses and place them over the stock ones but I didn;t want to do that when I didnt; need to.

as for painting your CAI there isn't anything wrong w/ doin that at all. It would lok good and match the overall loo under your hood. I would say go for it. As for the Outlineing of the AEM on it I would say use a paint pen in black not a sharpie marker...

would i need heat resistant paint for the intake since it is under my engine and it gets pretty hot under there. and wont the krylon get fucked up after heat? dont you have to use all heat resistant paint when you paint the valve cover?

THEY DONT SELL KRYLON ANYWHERE OVER HERE ANYMORE!! WTF?

Well I've had mine painted like that for quite a few months and haven;t had a problem w/ it looking any diff. I also just wanted to keep the same yellow through out my ride.

as i said i did mine w/ Krylon but yes it would probably be better to go full Heat resistant paint.

as for the CAI i would say just use the same piant you do end up using for the valve cover on teh CAI so that way as I stated befroe it looks uniform.

My hoses I ordered from www.summitracing.com and I found it and it's the Akimoto hose kit in Yellow.

Very nice job there, Whtehnda93DXSdn. :D I love the look of it, so smooth and glossy looking. Did you clear coat it any after painting? I would like to paint up my valve cover to my motor, but I don't have the time to, and I need my car everyday, so it wouldn't benifit me to have it out of commision a few days. :( Plus I'm worried that once I'd put the painted cover back on, it wouldn't be sealed on the block as well as it is from the factory. Did you or anyone else that has done this. had any problems with the cover leaking any oil through the gasket seal after taking it off and putting it back on? Here's how my engine looks so far:

SilverY2KCivic No I got such a good finish from the last 2 coats of yellow that I never ended up clearing it. I was goin to but never have taken it back off. I didn;t have any problem w/ mine resealing when I put it back on. Just make sure to have it setting right and just tighten it down to the right amount of torque.
