squeaky brakes

Hey all,
I just replaced the rear pads in my 01 eclipse spyder and now I'm getting an intermittent squeak. I put on ceramic pads. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Could be a few things. I am assuming that it only squeaks when you are going moderately slow. This is caused by vibrations between parts of your brakes. ie. shims, pads, rotors, caliper, piston(s). I would first check your rotors, did you get them resurfaced if they aren't completely smooth, or if they are the least bit warped, that will cause squeaking(getting them resurfaced costs 7 dollars per rotor and its a good idea to get done if doing your brakes yourself, if they have any grooves on them).

Next I would go to Autozone or pepboys and get anti-brake squeal lub and apply it to the backs of the pads, the metal shims, and the part of the piston that pushes the back of the pads, and lastly the guide bolts that hold the piston on. Then I would make sure you tighten them all back together. Make sure not to get any lub on hte fronts of the pads or the rotors though, as you need friction to stop!)
Also, just to mention, I am assuming that you didn't use your brakes really hard immediately, but that you settled them in smoothly. It is a good idea when you get new pads on to brake smoothly from 10, then 20, then 30, then 50, then allow them to cool, and then repeat this a 2 or 3 times. this allows your pads to settle in. If you are hard on the pads immediately after you change them and don't give them a chance to bed in correctly it will lead to uneven wear.

He is right about the break in period. If you do not perform this, they will squeak for some time afterward.

Sweet..I'll give your suggestions a try. I did use the lube between the shim and the piston and on the backside of the other shim. I also may see about having the rotors turned. The pads before did not get low enough to dig in but I do notice some small grooves.
