Nice job. The camero is a quicker car then the civic so you did quite well.

I just have to ask. Do you even know what Vtec really is?

Well I want to know what hobbesboarder thinks it is. He tells his story as if when the Vtec kicks in it is like a turbo, or nitrous. Besides Vtec adds very little to the horsepower or the torque.

in a civic that may be true.. but go take a ride in a prelude with an h22a or a integra type r. then you'll really get an idea of what vtec is like

True, but they are the more sporty end of the Honda/Acura spectrum. And besides Ludes look a lot better anyhow. I mainly dislike Civics. :)

isnt VTEC like valve timing electronic lift control??

almost like an extra cam or something that helps open the valves more and longer... starts at 5500rpm i think

Are the V6 camaros even fast? I've heard they are pretty slow.

3.8l 200hp for the new ones... yeah they are pretty slow, not as slow as a stock civic though... yeah, i know heh

know Vtec only cuts in at a certain RPM so it does work a bit like a turbo

Hey Polygon you think your LeBaron could beat a Volvo T5 what is your 1/4 mile? and zero-60

Polygon
01-13-2002, 06:07 PM
My 0-60 is in the low to mid 6s. And me 1/4 mile time is around mid 13's.

01-13-2002, 06:09 PM
horse power?
per liter ?
how much does it weight?

and what is your best race?

I raced a Supra but Automatics suck dick so it kinda went funny at 75 - like no acceleration.... WTF is with that ?

Polygon
01-13-2002, 06:12 PM
Right now I am at 180HP and 220 torque.
The car probably weighs about 2500 pounds.
Best race in was probably a few months ago, Lebaron Vs. Prelude Vs. RSX. Bye bye lude, but the RSX didn't do to bad. That was my best race in the LeBaron anyhow.

NSX-R-SSJ20K
01-13-2002, 06:21 PM
yea T5 is 236bhp 220lb/ft torque and 155mph top speed
It has long ass gearing so when you hit about 90 it just kinda dies

I raced a Supra TT it was close all the way to 75 when the gears all fucked up and the shitty auto gearbox must've skipped one cuz it just died at 75 no acceleration whatsoever it was wierd ...
It was close up until that point like i was on right next to him all the way from about 35 i thought i'd take a rolling start = no turbo lag since he had Sequential Turbo's...

well thank u for trying to flame me i appreciate it.. i know it doesnt add many horses or torque annd its not like a turbo but a little helps and thats all i needed.

valve timing electronic computer: it times the valves so they can run most efficiently thereby creating power...

my civic isnt bone stock i got I/H/E , coilovers, etc. i know that dosent make me fast or anything but it helps (i have to be carefull what i say because some people like to prove how cool they are by trying to flame everyone they see... ) p.s. ill have pics posted next week in the 92+ civic forum

p.s.s. the camaro was an automatic too i cant remember if i included that

I wasn't trying to flame you. I just wanted to know if you knew what Vtec is. Most people have no idea what the hell it is. I had a friend that though it was a fuel additive. I had to smack him for that one. I am glad that you know what it is, and sorry if I came across like an asshole, that wasn’t my intention.

Mid 6 0-60 and mid 13s?? Your traction must be unparalleled! Slicks I'm guessing?

Polygon

Nope. Bridgestone Potenzas.
Stock my car runs 6.7 0-60 and in the high 13s to low 14s. I usually to get extremely good traction off the line though. I wonder what I would run on slicks?

Self
01-14-2002, 09:26 PM
Actually, you'd probably crush your rear on slicks!:D And I was just wondering about the 0-60, it seems extraordinarly low for your quarter to be so quick.

Well I loose a lot of accel in third gear. It angers me, but I am thinking about chipping it and taking the boost up to about 21psi. That should compensate.

Just for clarification. VTEC- Variable Valve timing and lift electronic control. Yes it changes valve timing to optomize performance but it also changes the duration of the lift on the cams which lets this happen. This is the reason why honda engines can make power at such high RPM's and its also to try and sqeeze some torque out of the engine when running up in the power band. It elimates the need for high end or low end tuning. VTEC cams acctually have two extra lobes (for a four valve per cylinder engine) for the high end power. So you acctually have low RPM lobes and high RPM lobes. So esentially when you hit VTEC you have completly changed your valve timing and the power band just about starts anew. The cams are the basis for VTEC.

i honestly feel sorry for u ppl, a ricer is happy about taking his lil moddified civic and "beating" a v6 2.8L camaro with 135 HP and less in torque and only winning by a half a car length............not to knock u guys but how bout next time you race an L98 or maybe an LB9 or even an LG4 car for that matter.....you wouldnt stand a chance

even tho i hate rice and always will, it doesnt take a thouand hp to beat a stock v6 camaro...............and i liked the part "first race ive won in a while"....i wonder why

Well the first cool thing you did is dig up a thread that is a year old, then you follow that up with making this your first post. Congradulations, you sir are a moron. Instead of digging up old shit to make a biased uneducated statment, why don't you find something usefull to contribute, even if it is not in this forum.

On that note, my first car was an 88 camaro RS sporting the 2.8L, yes the car is horribley under-powered. My second was an 87 camaro iroc-z, a bit more powerful but in the end, it turned out to be another pos. I like both domestic and import cars alike, it is just a matter of taste. Imports may not be your thing, but be rest assured there are quite a few very fast ones out there.

its never too late for a correction

im just makin sure that ppl such as yourself dont think that any1 sporting the infamous civic thinks they have a chance against any Lb9 or L98 camaro......and i just think its funny when a ricer brags about when they beat a big ass car with no power.....also, im guessing your iroc was an LG4, not a ton of power but yes it has power, plus im guessing it was a POS cause you fucked it up in one way or another

btw, lovin your torque #'s

It doesn't take a lot of torque to move a 2500lbs car..
